Insight Investment is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join the Corporate team in Manchester. In this role, you will play a key role in driving Finance and HR transformation initiatives within Insight Investment, working closely with senior stakeholders and Agile delivery teams to shape and prioritise product backlogs and translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. The role combines hands on technical capability with strong analytical and documentation skills to support the full software development lifecycle. Acting as a vital communication bridge between Finance and HR business owners and development teams, the Senior Technical BA will contribute to business analysis, sprint planning, SQ / Azure development, system and acceptance testing, release management and the refinement of complex data processes, while also mentoring junior team members and fostering collaborative, cross site relationships.

Role Responsibilities

• Work directly with all levels of seniority within the Finance and HR departments to develop and detail the product backlog in the form of Themes, Epics and Stories
• Work directly with the Finance and HR business owners and Development Lead to prioritise work
• Act as the communication channel between business owners and the Agile delivery team you work within
• Undertake JIT analysis and documentation to support the team’s sprint activities
• Undertake various aspects of development work including SQL and Azure
• Contribute to Anaplan development work
• Contribute to the planning and execution of system and acceptance testing
• Be involved in all aspects of the software development
• Contribute to BAU support
• Act as a mentor and coach to junior members of the team
• Build and maintain a good working relationship with the business representatives, working across teams and multiple sites

Experience Required

• Advanced SQL, the ability to work independently and with developers to refactor legacy code, design and optimise complex queries, and perform in-depth data analysis to support business decision-making
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Data Factory for cloud-based data integration and transformation
• Proficiency in Anaplan or similar configurable SaaS software for business planning, modelling and data visualisation
• Advanced Excel, including complex formulas and data analysis
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams using Scrum Methodology
• Ability to apply suitable analytical approaches to requirements discovery, documentation and solution delivery
• Skill in collecting and interpreting data, analysing results to identify patterns and trends in structured and unstructured data sets
• Experience in the Asset Management sector would be beneficial, with a strong track record of leading and delivering Finance Department transformation initiatives
• Demonstrable experience of translating business requirements into technical specifications
• Experience in release management control and communication
• A sense of personal responsibility and the drive to own problems. Provides assistance to other members of the team. Pro-actively removing blockers to maximise team productivity
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and management experience with the ability to effectively communicate at a level and depth appropriate to the audience
