Join a collaborative and forward-thinking team where your expertise will help shape the University’s data governance capability. As a Senior Business Analyst within Data Strategy and Governance, you will play a critical role in enabling strong data practices, working alongside diverse stakeholders to develop and manage UQ's conceptual data models and supporting artefacts.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in identifying and defining business requirements and risks, providing data governance advice and representing business processes and information in models of varying complexity.
Key responsibilities will include:
Partner with stakeholders across the University to elicit, analyse and define risks and business requirements, providing complex data governance advice, direction or recommendations
Prepare key documentation to support business analysis, such as business cases, risk reviews, conceptual data models and issue papers
Develop and maintain enterprise data artefacts such as the information entity catalogue, business glossary and conceptual data models
Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and work collaboratively to develop conceptual data models, define key information entities and business terms, and help identify data-related issues
Provide direction and oversight to solution architects and other business analysts developing conceptual models to ensure alignment with UQ's modelling framework and information equity catalogue
Drive the successful delivery of data initiatives by managing changes to conceptual data models and supporting the development of more detailed logical data models
Supervise the Data Governance Officer to meet their operational objectives, ensuring all aspects of human resource management are conducted effectively in accordance with University policies and procedures
Postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Demonstrated significant experience in business analysis, including requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation
Proven experience in data governance, information management, enterprise architecture, or data services environments
Demonstrated ability to develop business process models, conceptual data models or other enterprise architecture or modelling tools (e.g. Avolution, Lean IX, Visio, Erwin)
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex information and develop practical solutions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Strong written communication skills with experience producing high-quality reports and artefacts
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes
Desirable qualifications include
Experience working in a regulated environment with knowledge of Queensland's regulatory environment regarding data, information and records
Experience modelling using the ArchiMate modelling language
Experience working in the higher education sector or in a large IT department
Knowledge of information technology services provided in a large organisation
