Job Description

Stylish, grounded, uplifting - these values live through everything we do at Boden. Without the collaboration, honesty and friendship between our teams, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We curate a world of beauty that’s ethical, inclusive - and importantly - good fun. We inspire you to live your best life. We are Boden.

The Senior Business Analyst (Automation) plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our Robotic Process Automation (RPA) capability. Operating at the intersection of business operations and technology, you will:

  • Identify high value automation opportunities

  • Assess process suitability for RPA

  • Translate complex workflows into clear, build ready requirements

You will contribute to the automation demand pipeline and prioritised backlog, ensuring that delivery focuses on initiatives generating meaningful operational value. This role requires strong automation knowledge — including process suitability, rule based logic, and exception handling — and close collaboration with engineering & delivery teams to ensure solutions are practical, well defined, and aligned to organisational standards.

It suits someone comfortable working in ambiguity and bringing structure to an evolving capability.

Location: 2 days per week at our North Acton office, with the remaining days WFH.

What You Will Do

Automation Opportunity Identification & Prioritisation

  • Partner with business units and domain teams to identify, explore, and evaluate automation opportunities.

  • Facilitate structured discovery sessions and workshops to understand workflows, pain points, volumes, and variability.

  • Assess process suitability for RPA, distinguishing between rule‑based and judgement‑based activities.

  • Provide detailed analysis and recommendations to inform prioritisation decisions

  • Maintain and own a prioritised automation backlog aligned to business priorities.

Process Mapping & Business Analysis

  • Decompose complex end‑to‑end business processes into structured, well‑documented process maps.

  • Identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and improvement opportunities prior to automation.

  • Define target‑state processes that are optimised for automation.

  • Translate process designs into clear, structured requirements for engineering delivery, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Ensure traceability between business objectives, requirements, and delivered automation outcomes.

Delivery Alignment & Collaboration

  • Act as the key point of contact between business stakeholders, the automation engineering team and domain teams.

  • Clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and support feasibility discussions.

  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and review sessions.

  • Validate completed automations against defined acceptance criteria.

  • Ensure solutions meet defined governance standards and sign‑off processes.

  • Support smooth transition of automations into live operation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with business teams and functional leads.

  • Manage expectations regarding feasibility, complexity, and delivery timelines.

  • Provide clear and consistent updates on roadmap progress and delivery outcomes.

  • Promote understanding of automation capability and its appropriate application across the organisation.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Development

  • Contribute to the evolution of automation standards, documentation practices, and intake frameworks.

  • Capture lessons learned and feed insights back into process improvements.

  • Support the maturation of the automation capability as it scales.

  • Encourage disciplined process thinking and value‑led decision‑making.

What We Are Looking For

  • You are analytical, pragmatic, and comfortable operating across both business and technology.

  • Strong experience in Business Analysis, Product Ownership, or process led transformation and have a proven ability to turn complex workflows into structured, actionable requirements.

  • Strong process mapping and documentation capability.

  • A solid conceptual understanding of RPA and automation suitability.

  • Confidence distinguishing rule based vs. judgement based processes.

  • Experience defining exception paths and acceptance criteria.

  • Ability to work closely with engineering to deliver technology enabled solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • A practical mindset focused on measurable operational value. Experience with RPA platforms (UiPath) or structured process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) is preferrable.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary & targeted annual bonus scheme.

  • Generous Boden clothing allowance.

  • 30% discount on all current clothing ranges.

  • 25 days Holiday annually, plus Bank Holidays.

  • Online Portal with an array of discounts on retail & entertainment.

  • Virtual GP Service for you and your household.

  • Free onsite parking and subsidised café.

About Boden

We’re all about happiness you can wear. Our story begins in 1991.

Contrarian. How else would you describe a man who left a good job in the city – working in New York during its shiny ’80s heyday no less – to set up a mail-order clothes company at a time when buying things that got delivered was considered a bit, well, joke-worthy? Or was he just lucky – right time, right place, right instinct?

Johnnie launched Boden with a hand-drawn catalogue featuring eight menswear styles he wanted in his own wardrobe (and wanted to order from his armchair). That was 1991, and back then, catalogues for stylish people who like stylish clothes weren’t really a ‘thing’ in Britain.

Today, after a wild, unpredictable and exciting 30 years, Boden is a global company but it still has the same family vibes. It’s the opinion of the women in his life – his wife Sophie (who pushed him to follow his dream in the first place), his three discerning daughters and Johnnie’s new lovely female sidekick – Janet the dog – that he values over anything.

Originality is also so very important, with every step taken to set Boden apart from the rest. Whether that’s hand-drawn prints, doing our best to make sure we don’t cut corners and even listing words we cannot use (we copywriters love a challenge). Attention to detail is everything, and it shows. Johnnie has also been adamant that every factory we use respects its workforce in the same way he respects his workforce at home. And that Boden uses as many recycled materials as possible.

“His main piece of advice is always be yourself,” his daughter Katie adds. “I think we’re all flawed but that’s the one thing that we [the family] are – very honest. I just think you can’t go wrong by being honest.” And lastly? “He’s also never tried to be cool…which makes him cool.”

Boden isn’t about fast fashion and fads. It never was. It’s about making clothes that put a smile on your face, for a long, long time.
