This position is responsible for end-to-end processing of coinsurance (financial solution) treaties/products and corresponding client data, which involves fast paced and large business transactions for Asia Pacific Financial Solutions (APFS) business in Japan, a growing block of business in the market. This role will act as a Senior Business Analyst responsible for setting up business processes, processing and managing client reinsurance data, reconciling and validating settlement and reports appropriately and accurately in line with treaty specification and regulatory requirements, and communicating with clients. This role will contribute to and work closely with stakeholders from System, Business Development, Pricing, Valuation and Finance on a day-to-day basis. Knowledge of products and operations in the Japan life insurance market is highly recommended to contribute and to fulfil the duties required for this role.
Responsibilities
Review and provide advice on treaty and data layout prior to execution
Process data in RGA policy administration system, including daily ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) exercises
Analyze treaty information and client data, and develop requirements to transform the information to match RGA policy administration system attributes
Validate statements against treaty terms and conditions to ensure data accuracy
Perform data analysis and explain data findings to the manager. Take appropriate actions according to the principle and guidelines
Maintain excellent ongoing client relationships by communicating with clients for clarification or to follow up on any outstanding issues
Establish operational management framework, which includes developing manuals and procedures for the processes designed and implemented, as well as introducing and documenting controls for risk management purposes
Engage in risk management activities; communicating with external and internal audits
Provide support on assigned ad-hoc tasks/projects
May be responsible for administration of Japan Branch traditional reinsurance businesses
Qualifications
University degree or equivalent experience
Native Japanese language proficiency is required; business English language is highly preferable (reading and writing skills are required)
Minimum 8-10 years' experience in life insurance administration or experience in reinsurance/insurance broker
Proficient PC skills such as MS Word and Excel
Must have interpersonal skills to communicate with clients and internal stakeholders
Must possess customer service oriented and positive attitude
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to prioritize within deadlines and able to work overtime as needed
Knowledge of financial products, in particular life insurance products
Experience of working with international organization
