ASRC Federal Technology Solutions is actively seeking a Sr Business Analyst to join our team and support defining business and systems requirements for our federal customer. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Business Analysis principles and tools, possess excellent written and oral skills, and be able to define requirements for government systems and processes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with business sponsors and other relevant stakeholders to define and document the business requirements for complex government software systems. The ability to work with both technical and non-technical audiences is very important, so having a solid understanding of the software development process is key. Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Performing business analysis to support project managers and business leads in defining project scope and objectives.
  • Facilitating meetings with subject matter experts from various levels of the business to organize work and priorities.
  • Documenting meetings and taking meeting minutes.
  • Reviewing and analyzing existing business requirements and processes.
  • Developing business requirements based on customer interviews and workshops.
  • Re-engineering business processes to meet new business requirements.
  • Eliciting information and functional specifications and design criteria from key stakeholders through oral and written communication.
  • Documenting the specifications of design principles, processes, models, and standards that address business requirements and goals.
  • Participating in enterprise strategy sessions, strategic assessments, and design reviews to validate enterprise approach and associated work products
  • Creating and editing technical documentation such as user guides, UAT guides, CSOM, Concept of Operations, Business Case, and Alternatives Analysis style deliverables.
  • Assist in applying common best practices for the industry to the customer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Science or closely related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience working as a Business Analyst in an enterprise environment.
  • Candidates without degrees can be considered, providing they have a minimum of 11 years' relative experience.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to concisely describe requirements and detailed functional requirements.
  • Ability to create detailed specifications that will guide the efforts for complex IT System modernization and business process improvement.
  • Advanced working knowledge with MS Office (Office 365), SharePoint, and Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, especially Scaled Agile (SAFe).
  • Experience with documentation of business requirements. Examples of documentation include business requirement specifications (BSR), workflow diagrams, context diagrams, use cases, and user stories.
  • Understanding of user interfaces and most common approaches found in GUIs.
  • Experience working with a wide range of personnel, including business sponsors, product owners, government project managers, development teams, and end users at all levels of the organization.

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of database systems (SQL Server and Oracle).
  • Familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts.
  • Familiarity with GIS technology and methodology
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with integrating COTS and custom software as part of an enterprise software solution
  • Experience designing web interfaces including services and writing specifications.
  • Experience with Power App development.
  • Ability to understand formulas used in financial calculations and to describe relevant workflows.
  • Prior government experience (as a federal employee or contractor) highly desired
  • Prior experience as a web-based software developer
