About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will drive strategic improvements across clinical research operations by analyzing complex business processes, gathering and translating stakeholder requirements, and designing solutions that enhance efficiency and compliance. This position plays a key role in process optimization, system implementation, requirements management, and operational transformation. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams across clinical operations, follow industry-standard methodologies, and contribute to strategic initiatives from planning through execution.
Responsibilities include leading comprehensive business analysis activities, conducting process improvement initiatives, designing solutions that meet business requirements, and mentoring team members. Key Responsibilities:
Lead comprehensive analysis of business needs, processes, and workflows across clinical research functions
Conduct thorough requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders at all levels and translate complex business needs into clear, detailed, and actionable requirements documentation
Develop use cases, user stories, and functional specifications that accurately reflect business requirements and validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy
Analyze current state business processes to identify inefficiencies and gaps, document existing workflows using process mapping techniques, and design future state processes that optimize efficiency, quality, and compliance
Develop recommendations for process standardization and automation, perform cost-benefit analyses for proposed process changes, and measure and report on the effectiveness of implemented improvements
Collaborate with technical teams to design solutions that meet business requirements and develop functional specifications and design documents for system implementations
Support the development and execution of test plans and test cases, validate that implemented solutions meet business requirements and quality standards, and develop training materials and support documentation for end users
Lead business analysis activities for medium to large-scale projects, develop project scope and deliverables, create and manage business analysis work plans and timelines, and identify and manage risks related to requirements and solution implementation
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across clinical operations, facilitate communication between business units and technology teams, and present analysis findings and recommendations to stakeholders at various levels
Mentor junior business analysts and share best practices, stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting clinical research, and identify opportunities for innovation in clinical processes and systems
You'll thrive in this role if you bring:
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in business process analysis, requirements management, and process improvement methodologies
Proficiency with business analysis tools and software (JIRA, Confluence, Visio) and familiarity with process modeling notations (BPMN, UML, flowcharts)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with advanced facilitation and presentation capabilities, including the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences
Strong leadership capabilities including team mentoring, project coordination, decision-making, and the ability to influence without authority
Experience working in clinical research, pharmaceutical industry, or regulated environments with deep understanding of clinical trial processes and workflows
A patient-focused mindset, strong attention to detail, and commitment to regulatory compliance and quality standards
Required Qualifications:
5 to 7 years of business analysis experience, with at least 3 years in clinical research or pharmaceutical industry
Demonstrated experience leading requirements gathering and process improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of clinical trial processes and workflows
Experience with clinical systems implementation and configuration (EDC, CTMS, eTMF, etc.)
Knowledge of regulatory requirements in clinical research (GCP, ICH, FDA, EMA)
Experience with Agile and traditional software development methodologies
Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, life sciences, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), IIBA certifications, or PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis)
Training in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
Background in implementing or optimizing clinical data management processes
Experience leading cross-functional teams and facilitating decision-making
