The opportunity

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for the quality, planning and estimating of your individual workstream and deliverables. In addition to good technical BA capabilities, your role will require a comprehensive understanding of project delivery methodologies. You should have a good working knowledge of project management techniques, as well as an understanding of organisational change management, development and testing.

The North Platforms Technology team sits within the Technology division within AMP.

The North Platforms Technology team provides full lifecycle management of the North platform which is one of the leading Wrap platforms in the Wealth market. The capability within the team is very diverse with specialised skillset and deep knowledge within the Wealth Industry. Roles within the team cover Strategic Planning, Business and Systems Analysis, Development, Architecture, Testing, and Production Support.

We work very closely with our business partners across the Client Services, Digital and Adviser Experience, Product, Distribution, Marketing, and other finance areas and have deep appreciation of how Technology plays a pivotal role in helping these partners achieve successful outcomes.

About the role:

  • Lead discussion between Business and Technology teams to understand business objectives and translate into solutions.
  • Work with the business leaders and across transformation and technology teams to plan and deliver change.
  • Working and delivering within Agile delivery frameworks, as well as mentoring and adapting to best practices.
  • Produce business and functional requirements for business and technology stakeholders and facilitate necessary reviews/approvals.
  • Work through the entire software development lifecycle, responsible for supporting both Business and Technology activities.
  • Lead and/or support the scoping and estimating of initiatives, including support for development of business cases.
  • Conduct impact assessments across the North Platform and with internal and external upstream/downstream systems.
  • Work with business and Tech Leads to ensure sequencing of delivery is efficient and supports required outcomes of both groups.
  • Support the transition of software changes to BAU, working with Change, Training Teams and Production Support.
  • Build and foster effective relationships with Business and IT teams internally and externally

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience of performing business analysis on large projects delivering business and technology change within the financial services industry.
  • Strong business analysis experience in wealth management, investment wraps or superannuation delivering complex projects.
  • Wrap platform experience or North experience highly valuable
  • Experience working across the end-to-end software development life cycle (SDLC) within both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.
  • Strong experience in applying business analysis to drive strategic development and process improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analysis that creates new business capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, and SQL.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and relevant industry experience

Job Specific capabilities required:

  • Elicitation and documentation of business requirements, functional specifications and handovers. Facilitation of workshops, including capturing, summarising and organising inputs and outputs. Process analysis and mapping (As-Is, To-Be).
  • Scoping, estimating and planning streams of work.
  • Support the development of business cases.
  • Ability to engage with both business and technical resources and act as the conduit to deliver outcomes, doing so within hybrid Agile and Waterfall environments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of cross functional teams.
  • Commitment to delivering high quality and cost-effective solutions to business stakeholders.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building scalable applications.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Strong creative thinking, problem solving, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Develop and instil a continuous improvement culture via a focus on innovation and process.
