Join our team at NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) - we’re transforming how digital services support NZ’s transport system. As part of Te Aukaha | Digital, you’ll help deliver future-focused solutions that improve how we connect people, products, and places across Aotearoa.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially astute Senior Business Analyst who can translate complex problems into clear, actionable outcomes - someone who thrives in a collaborative, product-led environment.

Based in our analysis chapter, you will work in a matrix model and be assigned to a squad to deliver analysis work on our digital initiatives. You’ll work across business and technology, shaping product design, eliciting requirements, and ensuring solutions align with enterprise principles - a critical part in supporting product teams to deliver value.

You will:

  • Partner with Product Managers to define product vision, design, and roadmaps
  • Lead business analysis activities across end-to-end delivery
  • Translate complex business needs into clear requirements, models, and specifications
  • Map current and future state processes to drive improved outcomes
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to solve user-facing problems
  • Provide trusted advice and guidance on system changes and delivery approach

View the Appointment salary is from $133,632 to $148,480 commensurate with skills and experience.

Ideally you are an experienced Business Analyst who is confident working in complex environments and influencing outcomes at a senior level. You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience in business analysis (typically 5+ years) in complex environments
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to solve complex problems and drive clarity
  • Proven experience engaging stakeholders, facilitating workshops, and building relationships
  • Ability to translate technical and business concepts into clear, audience-appropriate language
  • Experience working across product, engineering, and operations teams
  • Knowledge of modern delivery frameworks, design thinking, and co-design approaches
