Senior Business Analyst
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to work on one of our interesting government projects. The contract is to start ASAP till end of October 2026 (possible extension afterwards). The role is majority remote working with occasional travel to client site in London (max 2 times per month). Must be based in the UK, no overseas work allowed.

Project Summary:
The Business Analyst will support the programme, focusing on the cloud replatforming and migration of technology and data services from one department to the new department.
The role ensures that business requirements, data needs, and operational processes are clearly defined, validated, and delivered to support a smooth transition to new cloud-hosted environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the users to understand what they do and how they work, to validate requirements and ensure shared understanding of transition outcomes
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews with technical and non-technical teams to capture end-to-end business and data needs
  • Capture high-level business needs including background, scope, and objectives
  • Elicit, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements for the migration and replatforming of cloud and data services
  • Analyse existing client’s hosted platforms to determine business dependencies, data flows, and migration impacts
  • Produce business process documentation including current state (as-is) and future state (to-be) process maps for target systems
  • Define data requirements including entity relationships, data ownership, stewardship, retention, and archiving requirements
  • Perform data mapping including business inputs and rules
  • Translate technical cloud concepts into business-friendly language to support informed decision-making
  • Collaborate with architects, delivery managers, and technical leads to ensure alignment between business requirements and delivery solutions.
  • Maintain requirements traceability matrices
  • Develop detailed AS-IS and TO-BE process models to support transition planning
  • Conduct gap and impact analysis to identify risks, mitigations, and dependencies across systems and services
  • Support documentation of data lineage, business rules, and metadata to enable accurate migration and governance compliance
  • Contribute to testing, validation, and assurance activities for replatformed systems and data
  • Maintain high-quality documentation, ensuring traceability from business requirements through to delivery outcomes
  • Support governance and assurance processes, ensuring compliance with data protection, information governance, and programme controls
  • Contribute to progress reporting, risk management, and dependency tracking

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience in business analysis within large-scale digital transformation or data migration programmes
  • Strong skills in stakeholder management, process modelling (AS IS & TO BE), and requirements documentation
  • Documentation standards: Agile user stories, business requirements documents, data dictionaries, and functional/non-functional requirements
  • Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Miro, PowerPoint, and MS Visio

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in public sector/government/healthcare digital programmes
  • Experience in data governance, information assurance, and regulatory compliance within the UK public sector
