Merchant Solutions is part of the Cards & Merchants domain, specialising in Merchant Acquiring.  For those that don’t know, that’s the shop side of when you use your credit card to buy something. We work to provide the systems and support to our customers offering Merchant Acquiring services for BNZ.

We support multiple applications/systems (internal and vendor provided) and the teams that use them. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst who can act as the pivot or intermediary between end users and IT to ensure that business and user requirements are delivered in IT solutions.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity based in Wellington. I t is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.  

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? 

• Analyse and deliver business process initiatives.  

• Meet with user groups to gather and analyse end user requirements.  

• Analyse workflow to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement.  

• Produce technical specifications to communicate user requirements in technical terms to analyst programmers and project teams. 

• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality and user friendliness of system enhancement and development.  

• Prepare material and provide training and assistance to end users following implementation.  

• Work as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems and/or developing new systems.

You’ll be part of the Merchant Solutions team, working with great people on our Merchant Acquiring Platform.  We have some amazing initiatives on the go, and this is your chance to join an awesome team and help shape how we build and deliver great customer experiences.   

These current initiatives include application enhancements, new technical and business processes, data analysis, and merchant migrations, providing lots of opportunities and variety.

The successful candidate will be highly adaptable, self-motivated and take ownership of their work to deliver successful outcomes.  Willing to work as a team to win together.  

What skills are required for this role?  

• Strong ability to converse with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the organisation.  

• Familiarity with programming, system design, IT infrastructure and database concepts.  

• Sound ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.  

• Strong experience with system integrations, including configuring and testing. 

• Sound business requirement / technical specification writing and documentation skills. 

• Data analytics experience. 

• Strong customer service focus.
