What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead assessment of complex statutory building proposals
  • Provide expert compliance advice and resolve challenging cases
  • Represent the City at hearings and tribunals with confidence
  • Investigate breaches and drive enforcement outcomes
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes
  • Support the Principal Building Surveyor in strategic oversight
  • Champion best practice and continuous improvement

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a highly skilled professional with strong technical and leadership capabilities. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Building or related discipline
  • Building Surveyor Practitioner Registration (Level 1 or 2)
  • Extensive experience in statutory building control
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and processes
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive matters
  • Experience in staff supervision and mentoring
  • Current Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance
