Mater Research are looking for a Senior Biostatistician to join the team! This is a two-year fixed-term role in a part-time capacity at 19 hours per week. It will be based at our South Brisbane campus.
The Mater Senior Biostatistician position is a key research role as part of the Tiny Babies Initiative team within the Mater Mother and Baby Research Program. The role is integral to the success of this ambitious research initiative. It is expected that the occupant will fully participate in the success of the initiative and of the Mater by living the core values in word and deed, adhering to the Mater Code of Conduct as well as exceeding in their provision of neonatal research, quality improvement and clinical practice improvement

Salary range: $64.20 - $67.94 (MRI Admin L9) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
This position of Tiny Baby Program Statistician is a position within the Tiny Baby Initiative (TBI) with a close relationship with Mater Research and Mater Health and any appointment will be in accordance with the Mission and Values of the Mater. It is a role with responsibilities for supporting all research projects within the Tiny Baby Initiative. The purpose of the position is to liaise with and assist the Tiny Baby Working Group and the individual researchers involved in research programs within the Tiny Baby Initiative with undertaking, supporting and initiating research, quality improvement and clinical practice improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for statistical analyses of various datasets, including potential data linkage analyses. Some key research outcomes include short term inpatient outcomes, neonatal death and short- and long-term neonatal morbidity.
The role includes collaborating closely with Prof Ju-Lee Oei, who leads Neonatal Research at the Mater, as well as other research groups within and external to Mater Research. The role will also work alongside the TBI health economist in analyses costs of various models of care and cost benefit analysis.
The senior biostatistician will collaborate with researchers to undertake quality, advanced statistical analyses, provide interpretation of results, oversee quality assurance in relation to data management tasks, as well as support the statistical design of studies and trials. This position will also involve mentoring other team members, including training in data management, epidemiology, and statistics. This role will also involve collaborating with researchers, clinicians and allied health colleagues to help develop funding applications and achieve high-level research outputs.
