Location: O'Connor in City of Fremantle, WA (with travel across WA)

Employment Type: Full-time or part-time - we'll match what you're after (Candidates with less experience and great potential may also be considered for our pool of casual or contract mechanics)

About the Role

We’re seeking an Experienced Bicycle Mechanic to join our O'Connor workshop. You’ll be responsible for bicycle servicing, repairs, refurbishments, and maintaining our bicycle fleet in exceptional condition. You’ll also help train and supervise staff and volunteers and support a non-profit organisation by building bicycles from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform bicycle repairs, servicing, and safety checks to a high standard.
  • Manage workshop organization, tools, and inventory.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service and keep clients informed on repair progress.
  • Assist with the community workshop and support staff and volunteers, events, and school programs (occasional weekends).
  • Support the growth of the business with ideas and innovation.

About You

We’re looking for someone who loves bicycles, thrives on working independently, and enjoys teaching others. You’ll bring a mix of technical skill, reliability, and enthusiasm for community impact.

You’ll have:

  • Extensive experience servicing, safety checking, repairing, or building 1000+ bikes in the last 3 years.
  • Strong mechanical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • A current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
  • A valid driver’s licence and trailer experience a bonus, or willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • Certificate III in bicycle mechanics and workshop operations.
  • Cytech technical 2, 3 or e-bike
  • First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service or community programs.

Working With Us

Hours: minimum 3, up to 5 days per week (permanent).

Location: O'Connor workshop, Perth metro area, and occasional regional WA travel.

Remuneration: 70.000 - 90.000 pa (pro-rated if part-time), based on experience level.
