We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Power BI Architect with deep expertise in enterprise Power BI environments, Microsoft Fabric, capacity planning, workspace governance, monitoring, and data architecture.

What you will be doing:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Architect to assess the current Power BI environment and lead its migration to Microsoft Fabric. This hands-on role will focus on architecture, capacity planning, workspace governance, monitoring, performance, and data-ingestion strategies. Your responsibilities include:

  • Assess the current Power BI architecture, capacities, workspaces, licensing, monitoring, and data-ingestion processes.
  • Design a scalable Microsoft Fabric architecture and recommend the appropriate capacity and licensing model.
  • Develop capacity-sizing, scaling, and cost-optimization recommendations.
  • Define workspace architecture, access controls, governance standards, and deployment practices.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and escalation processes for Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Review Snowflake-to-Power BI data flows and recommend appropriate ingestion and refresh strategies.
  • Plan and execute the migration to Microsoft Fabric, including risk mitigation and rollback procedures.
  • Document the new architecture and transfer operational knowledge to internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7–10 years of experience working with Power BI, business intelligence, or enterprise data solutions.
  • Expert-level Power BI experience in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Premium or Embedded.
  • Experience with Fabric capacity sizing, performance monitoring, and cost optimization.
  • Strong understanding of Power BI workspace architecture, governance, access management, and deployment practices.
  • Experience with Power BI monitoring and alerting tools, including Fabric Capacity Metrics, Log Analytics, or similar solutions.
  • Experience using Snowflake as a Power BI data source.
  • Knowledge of data-ingestion and refresh strategies, including incremental refresh, DirectQuery, and Microsoft Fabric mirroring.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, validating, and troubleshooting data.
  • Experience planning or executing enterprise Power BI or Microsoft Fabric migrations.
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation, migration plans, and operational procedures.
  • Availability to overlap with Austin and Chicago business hours.
