Day in the life:

We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join Flight Centre Travel Group as a Senior BI Analyst. In this role, you will contribute to the evolution of our analytics capability by helping the organisation make better use of data, advanced analytics, and emerging AI tools. While the BI function traditionally focuses on reporting and dashboards, this position supports the next stage of our analytics journey by enabling new ways for the business to explore data, generate insights, and make more informed decisions. Working closely with business stakeholders, BI developers, data engineers, and data scientists, you will play a key role in translating strategic business challenges into practical data, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions. A key part of the role will involve preparing and modelling well-structured datasets that support both traditional BI reporting and modern AI-driven data interaction. This includes developing curated and semantically meaningful data models that make it easier for business users and AI tools to interpret and explore trusted enterprise data. You will also enable new ways for teams to interact with data, including developing Genie Rooms within Databricks that allow business users to query curated datasets using natural language. In addition, you will support the adoption of AI-assisted analytical workflows using tools such as Claude Enterprise, helping teams accelerate analysis, generate insights, and improve knowledge sharing. Through this work, the role helps the organisation move beyond traditional reporting towards more insight-driven and AI-assisted decision making.

You'll be perfect for the role if you have:

  • Identify opportunities where advanced analytics and AI can improve decision making and operational performance.
  • Act as a trusted analytics advisor, helping teams understand how data and AI can address business challenges.
  • Develop and maintain curated datasets and semantic data models that make enterprise data easier to understand and use.
  • Enable business users to explore trusted data through modern analytics interfaces and AI-assisted tools, ensuring outputs are reliable, well documented, and aligned with data governance standards.

Data Modelling & Data Preparation

  • Design and evolve scalable data models that support reporting, analytics, and AI driven data interaction.
  • Develop curated datasets that are structured and semantically clear for both business users and AI tools.
  • Work with Data Engineering teams to align data pipelines and curated datasets with analytics and AI use cases.
  • Prepare datasets suitable for exploratory analysis, advanced analytics, and potential machine learning applications.

Conversational Analytics Enablement (Genie Rooms)

  • Design, develop, and maintain Genie Rooms within Databricks to enable natural language interaction with trusted enterprise data.
  • Maintain clear metadata, documentation, and business definitions to improve how AI tools interpret enterprise datasets.
  • Identify high-value conversational analytics use cases and guide business teams on effective use of these tools.
  • Monitor and refine Genie Rooms to ensure accurate responses, strong governance, and alignment with enterprise data standards.

AI-Enabled Analytics & Innovation

  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted analytics workflows, including tools such as Claude Enterprise.
  • Explore opportunities where AI can accelerate analysis, insight generation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Prototype new approaches that leverage AI to improve business insights and decision support, while ensuring responsible and governed use of AI tools.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Collaborate with BI developers, data engineers, and data scientists to bridge reporting, advanced analytics, and AI-driven insights.
  • Follow established development lifecycle practices including analysis, design, testing, implementation, and support.

About Flight Centre Travel Group

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is one of the world’s largest travel companies, employing 15,000 like-minded individuals – known as ‘Flighties’.

Our story dates to 1973, when founder Graham Turner (aka “Skroo") and friend Geoff “Spy” Lomas buy a double-decker bus and take off on their first tour around Spain, Portugal and Morrocco, 3 years later forming the first business, Top Deck. After flight deregulations in the 80s our first retail "Flight Centre" stores opened in Australia in 1982, London in 1984, and NZ in 1987.

1987 was also the year we held our first “Global Gathering” awards event celebrating our amazing people, a tradition that continues to this day.

And in 2025 we launched our very first loyalty program, World360 Rewards! Our Australian customers now able to earn and redeem points across Flight Centre, Travel Associates, and Cruiseabout.

We’re in our 40s now and a lot has changed! With global headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, our company owned leisure and corporate travel businesses span three major regions: APAC, The Americas and EMEA.

Our flagship corporate travel management brand, FCM, extends our reach even further through a network covering over 100 countries via both company-owned operations and independent licensees.

With 30 brands across our global footprint, our team spans from customer-facing to internal support roles. The opportunities just as diverse – from a Travel Consultant at Flight Centre or Envoyage, to a Machine Learning Scientist in one of our tech pillars.

Together, we live and breathe our number one philosophy, Our People, driven by our purpose ‘To open up the world for those who want to see’.

Our values are simple and powerful - Ownership, Egalitarianism and Irreverence.

We support our people with opportunities to help you thrive, connect, give, move and be rewarded. Our people have access to a suite of curated benefits to ensure holistic wellbeing – from mental and physical health to financial freedom.
