The Benefits Administrator supports the administration and delivery of employee benefit programs for faculty, staff, and eligible dependents within a higher education environment. This role serves as the primary operational resource for benefits administration and is the main point of contact for in‑house leave administration, including the coordination and tracking of statutory and institutional leave programs. The position ensures accurate processing, regulatory compliance, and timely communication related to benefits and leave while delivering high‑quality customer service.
Responsibilities
Administer Benefits & Wellness Programs: Manage daily administration, communication, and compliance for all benefit programs.
Direct Leave Administration (FMLA, PWFA, ADA, STD, LTD): Act as the primary administrator for all leave and accommodation programs, overseeing intake, eligibility, documentation, communication, vendor coordination, and the ADA interactive process.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all statutory requirements governing leave, accommodations, wellness programs, and benefits operations.
ACA Compliance Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for ACA compliance, including eligibility evaluation, monthly tracking, reporting, and annual IRS filing.
New Hire Orientation: Lead the benefits portion of new hire orientation, providing clear guidance on benefit options, deadlines, leave resources, wellness programs, and tuition remission.
Tuition Remission and Tuition Exchange Program Administration: Act as the primary point of contact for tuition remission guidance and deadlines, while overseeing forms processing.
Oracle Employee & Financials: Serve as a functional expert for the Benefits & Wellness team on Oracle processes, reports, and workflows. Conduct quarterly system testing and partner with IT on enhancements as needed.
Open Enrollment: Coordinate aspects of the annual open enrollment cycle, including system readiness, communication, presentations, and post-enrollment auditing.
Retirement Transition Support: Meet with employees preparing for retirement to provide guidance on University benefit continuation, COBRA options, and assist in navigating questions related to post‑retirement Butler benefits.
