About The Role

We’re looking for a seasoned and passionate engineering leader interested in joining our early-stage venture as full-time back-end engineering lead. In this role, you will build and maintain our product’s backend services, APIs, and deployment, for our global health tech mobile platform. Manage a senior team with engineers who have 10+ years of experience in software development, interacting with senior leaders and managing expectations.

What You’ll Do

The tech stack that we use at Elfie consists of the following:

• Front-end: Flutter, Firebase suite (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Messaging), Native iOS / Android

• Back-end: Node.js (NestJS / TypeScript), GCP (PubSub, Cloud Tasks, Functions, …), TypeScript, Python

• DevOps: GitHub Actions, GCP (Cloud Build, Cloud Run), Docker

• Analytics: GCP DataStudio, BigQuery, Google Analytics, UXcam, CleverTap, Adjust

Tech expertise required to be successful:

• Lead the backend development team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and best practices. Oversee code reviews and ensure adherence to clean coding standards and design principles.

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance microservices-based architectures.

• Architect and implement agentic AI workflows and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems to drive personalized user interactions and automated coaching features.

• Oversee the data pipelines and infrastructure required for real-time AI model inference, ensuring high-performance and low-latency integration within a microservices-based environment.

• Collaborate related stakeholders to align on requirements and delivery timelines.

• Optimize application performance, monitor system reliability, and troubleshoot issues proactively.

• Advocate for CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and robust version control strategies.

• Document key architectural decisions, APIs, and processes for internal use.

What You’ll Need

• Proven Experience: 8+ years of professional backend development experience, with 3+ years in a lead role.

• Programming Languages: Expertise in Node.js, Javascript, TypeScript and Python. Have experiences with statically typed languages (e.g, JAVA / GO / .NET) is a plus

• Microservices Architecture: Strong experience in building and managing microservices at scale.

• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, or similar.

• Databases: Proficiency in both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g, MongoDB, Firestore) databases.

• API Development: Extensive experience with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.

• DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).

• Soft Skills: Excellent communication (Vietnames, English), team collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
