Akamai Workforce Protector - Applicative Infrastructure

Seeking a Senior Backend Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate the backend systems and infrastructure that support our security platform. You'll work across cloud services, infrastructure, and data systems to help scale our services, pipelines, and databases.

In this role you will be:

• Designing, building, and operating scalable backend services and the infrastructure that supports them.
• Owning production systems end to end, with a focus on availability, performance, observability, and operational readiness.
• Building and maintaining reliable ETL and data-processing pipelines for production workloads.
• Working with PostgreSQL and ClickHouse to support data-intensive systems, including schema design, query performance, and data lifecycle needs.
• Developing and operating event-driven processing with Kafka and integrating it with backend services.
• Building and improving cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP using Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code.
• Improving deployment and operations through CI/CD, monitoring, automation, and close collaboration with partner teams.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have at least 4 years of experience in backend or infrastructure engineering in production environments.
• Demonstrate backend engineering skills in one or more general-purpose languages, with experience building and operating production services.
• Have experience designing distributed systems and debugging complex performance and reliability issues.
• Have hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including data modeling, schema design, query performance, migrations, and troubleshooting.
• Have experience with ClickHouse and Kafka, or similar analytical database and event-streaming technologies.
• Have experience building ETL or data-processing pipelines; experience supporting analytics or Data Science workflows.
• Have hands-on experience with AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
