As a Senior Backend Engineer, you are a driving force within the team. You combine hands-on development with technical leadership and ensure that we build scalable, future-proof solutions.
On-call duties are part of this role.
Additionally, AI is applied where relevant in our solutions and ways of working — your vision and experience in this area will have a direct impact.
· You have at least 6–8 years of experience as a backend engineer.
· You are an expert in C# and the .NET framework, with experience in complex systems and architecture.
· You think beyond individual features and make technical decisions with long-term impact.
· You have extensive experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
· You take technical ownership and help the team make better decisions.
· You coach and mentor colleagues and actively contribute to their growth.
· You are a strong communicator and can easily collaborate with both developers and stakeholders.
· You understand the business context and translate it into scalable solutions.
· You are open to innovation and enjoy working with AI and modern developer tooling.
· You are based in the Netherlands and available to work at least 2 days per week from our office in Hilversum.
· You design and build scalable backend architectures and features.
· You take the lead in technical decisions and improvements within the team.
· You work closely with stakeholders and optimize value creation.
· You actively improve our engineering practices and help teams grow.
· You coach developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.
· You step in where needed beyond your own domain — the result is what matters.
You will work in a close-knit team of 4 colleagues: 3 developers and 1 Product Owner. Together, you are end-to-end responsible for your product.
The team’s mission is to grow the user base of our Videoland platform, making it the number one streaming platform in the Netherlands. The focus of the work is on adding and maintaining integrations between the Videoland platform and our partners.

With 1.7 million subscribers and a growing line-up of original series, films, and shows, we reach millions of people in the Netherlands every day—both via our streaming service Videoland and via RTL 4, RTL 5, RTL 7, and RTL Z.
As a backend engineer, you help build and improve the Videoland platform that makes entertainment possible for the whole of the Netherlands.
