The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys building scalable systems, solving complex technical problems, and taking ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will play a key role in designing, building, and improving backend systems that support the company's cybersecurity platform. You will work closely with engineering and product teams and have significant ownership over technical decisions and product development.

The ideal candidate brings strong backend experience with Python and Java, solid knowledge of distributed systems, and hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered applications or agentic systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Java.
• Develop distributed systems involving APIs, databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Own features and services throughout their lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to monitoring, optimization, and continuous improvement.
• Build reliable, secure, and production-ready systems with a strong focus on scalability and performance.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the technical direction of the platform.
• Develop and integrate AI/LLM-powered features, agents, and workflows.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity while maintaining high standards for code quality and reliability.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, tooling, and engineering processes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience building and maintaining production-grade systems.
• Strong professional experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered applications, AI agents, agentic systems, or LLM integrations.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Strong sense of ownership and autonomy, with the ability to operate effectively in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in a product-focused technology company.
• Previous experience in cybersecurity, application security, or security-focused products.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience working at a high-growth startup or scale-up.
• Experience building developer-facing products, APIs, or platforms.
