The Lifecycle team is a product-aligned, customer-first engineering team owning onboarding, activation, and engagement experiences across IG's platform. We build and support the critical first-mile customer journey and ongoing engagement features - with an obsessive focus on reducing friction, improving conversion, and driving engineering excellence to ensure our systems are reliable, performant, and easy to change.
You'llbe the engineering force behind services that handle massive transaction volumes, real-time market data, and split-second decision making. Your primary responsibility is designing and building backend systems that are robust, observable, and wickedly fast. Design, build, andmaintainhigh-performance Java services (Spring BootWebFluxMVC) that handle real-time trading operations and massive data throughput
Own the full stack from code to cloud – architect solutions, build CI/CD pipelines, deploy to Kubernetes (AWS EKS), and keep production humming
Partner with Product, Design, and Frontend teams to deliver features that move the needle for our clients and business – not just tickboxes
Activelyparticipatein product development, from requirements discussions to seeing customers using your software in production
Implement observability that matters – build monitoring, alerting, and tracing (Grafana,Honeycomb,OpenTelemetry) that catches issues before clients notice them
Drive technical excellence in performance, scalability, and security – in fintech, "good enough"isn'tgood enough
Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents with urgency and precision – when something breaks at 3am,you'rethe person who fixes it (and then makes sure it never breaks again)
Mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and raise the bar across the team through thoughtful code reviews and knowledge sharing
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and stay at thecutting edgeof modern engineering practices
Challenge the status quo – question architectural decisions, propose improvements, and help shape our technical direction
Key Qualification Requirements:
Extensive backend engineering experience with Java as your weapon of choice (Spring Boot, REST/gRPC, reactive patterns)
Battle-tested experience running production workloads on Kubernetes (AWS EKS preferred) –you'vedebugged pod crashes at midnight and lived to tell the tale
Deep knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis) – you know when to use each and how to make them sing
Solid DevOps chops: CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and container orchestrationaren'tbuzzwords to you –they'redaily tools
Experience with distributed systems, microservice architectures, and the observability tooling needed to keep them healthy
A security-first mindset baked into how you design and code–not bolted on as an afterthought
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalentexperiencefrom real-world engineering
An ownership mindset that borders on obsessive-you treat every system like you built it with your own money
AI-positive mindset - you see AI tools as amplifiers of engineering capability, not replacements, andyou'reexcited to push the boundaries ofwhat'spossible with AI-assisted development

Strong English-language communication skills and the ability to thrive in globally distributed, cross-functional teams

Familiarity with financial services, trading platforms, or crypto/fintech is a plus-butwe'llteach you if you bring the engineering firepower
Willingness toparticipatein on-call rotations-production ownership means being there when it counts
This is a hybrid position (3 days onsite, 2 days remote work)
