We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the core services that power our payments infrastructure. You will play a key role in shaping system architecture, improving reliability, and ensuring our platform remains secure, scalable, and compliant in a regulated fintech environment.
You will work in a small, agile product team alongside frontend engineers, DevOps, and product stakeholders.
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript
Architect and develop REST APIs and microservices
Implement and optimize GraphQL and API Gateway solutions
Design and optimize database schemas and queries in PostgreSQL and MongoDB
Ensure high performance, availability, and security of services
Work closely with DevOps to deploy and manage services on AWS
Use Docker for containerization and ensure service reliability
Improve backend development standards, architecture, and processes
Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence
Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and backend architecture
Solid experience designing scalable REST APIs and microservices
Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB
Experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure
Experience with Docker and containerized environments
Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and security
Ownership mindset and proactive problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated environments (EMI, FCA-regulated companies)
Familiarity with high-availability systems and financial transaction flows
Experience optimizing performance in distributed systems
