Senior Backend Developer (Node.js/TypeScript) - Full Remote Portugal

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a fast-growing, product-driven technology consultancy known for its lean, self-managed culture and diverse, collaborative teams. PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll join a team building cloud-based, event-driven services, working closely with Front-End developers to deliver performant, secure, and resilient solutions. You'll take full ownership of your code — from design and development through deployment, monitoring, and production support — while contributing to an Agile team culture that values testing, documentation, and continuous delivery.
The team operates an on-call schedule, and participation is expected.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Strong hands-on experience with Vanilla JavaScript and/or TypeScript, with modern frameworks such as React and Node.js
• Proven experience building performant, resilient, and secure backend services
• Solid understanding of asynchronous and event-driven workflows
• Experience with architectural patterns and protocols such as HTTP, REST, and/or GraphQL
• Strong testing discipline and commitment to writing testable, maintainable code
• Self-driven, able to work autonomously with minimal supervision toward shared team goals
• English proficiency: B2 (Upper Intermediate) minimum

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
• Knowledge of service-oriented architectures, design patterns, and data structures
• Comfortable with Git-based version control in a continuous delivery process
• Experience with code quality tools (linters, type checkers, static analysis)
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
• Experience integrating systems such as warehouse management or eCommerce platforms

Compensation: €2,000 – €2,350/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
