Position Overview
An established and reputable organisation specialising in business transformation, B-BBEE compliance, skills development and regulatory advisory services is seeking an experienced, highly analytical and commercially minded Senior B-BBEE Verification Analyst to join its team based in Sandton, Johannesburg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive B-BBEE verification readiness, scorecard analysis, compliance assessments and strategic transformation advisory services to clients operating across multiple industries.
This is a senior-level position requiring extensive hands-on experience in B-BBEE verification, analysis or consulting, including a thorough understanding of the Amended Codes of Good Practice, sector-specific codes, SANAS verification standards and the practical application of all five B-BBEE scorecard elements.
The role requires an individual who can independently assess clients' B-BBEE positions, identify compliance gaps, calculate scorecards, develop improvement strategies and guide organisations through the verification preparation process.
In addition to technical expertise, the successful candidate must possess strong commercial and client relationship management capabilities. Responsibilities will include drafting professional proposals, service agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), advising clients on transformation expenditure and supporting new business development initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be a confident, detail-oriented B-BBEE specialist who can work across diverse industries, communicate effectively with senior management and deliver practical, commercially viable transformation solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. B-BBEE Assessment and Verification Readiness
- Conduct comprehensive B-BBEE compliance assessments in accordance with the B-BBEE Act, Amended Codes of Good Practice and applicable sector-specific codes.
- Assess and evaluate the B-BBEE status of clients operating across multiple industries.
- Determine the correct B-BBEE measurement category for each client, including Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs), Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs) and Generic Enterprises.
- Identify and apply the appropriate B-BBEE scorecard and sector code requirements.
- Independently calculate, analyse and interpret all five B-BBEE scorecard elements:
- Ownership
- Management Control
- Skills Development
- Enterprise and Supplier Development
- Socio-Economic Development
- Review and validate supporting documentation, including financial statements, payroll records, Employment Equity and Economically Active Population (EAP) data, procurement expenditure, training records and ownership structures.
- Accurately apply priority element sub-minimum requirements and discounting principles.
- Identify discrepancies, compliance risks and potential verification challenges.
- Prepare clients for formal verification by SANAS-accredited B-BBEE verification agencies.
- Liaise directly with verification agencies throughout the audit and verification process.
- Coordinate the collection, preparation and submission of verification evidence.
- Ensure all client documentation and supporting evidence meet the required verification standards.
- Maintain accurate, complete and audit-ready verification portfolios.
2. B-BBEE Gap Analysis and Scorecard Improvement
- Conduct detailed B-BBEE gap analyses to identify areas of non-compliance and opportunities for scorecard improvement.
- Evaluate clients' current B-BBEE recognition levels against their desired recognition levels.
- Identify areas where clients are losing points and recommend practical corrective measures.
- Prepare detailed B-BBEE scorecard projections and scenario models.
- Analyse the potential impact of different transformation initiatives on overall scorecard performance.
- Develop practical B-BBEE improvement strategies aligned with client objectives and budgets.
- Facilitate scorecard review workshops with client management teams.
- Engage with HR, finance, procurement and executive management stakeholders to assess transformation performance.
- Develop structured transformation improvement plans with clear timelines, responsibilities and measurable deliverables.
- Monitor progress against agreed transformation objectives.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and recommendations to improve client B-BBEE outcomes.
3. Transformation Spend Optimisation
- Assess and analyse client expenditure across the relevant B-BBEE scorecard elements.
- Advise clients on the most cost-effective allocation of Skills Development, Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) and Socio-Economic Development (SED) expenditure.
- Identify opportunities to maximise B-BBEE recognition through appropriate transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend suitable programmes, including:
- Learnerships
- Internships
- Bursaries
- Youth Employment Service (YES) initiatives
- Enterprise Development programmes
- Supplier Development programmes
- Socio-Economic Development initiatives
- Advise clients on relevant tax incentives, including Section 12H provisions where applicable.
- Monitor client transformation expenditure against annual targets and measurement-period requirements.
- Identify potential expenditure shortfalls and recommend corrective action.
- Link Skills Development expenditure to Skills Development Levy obligations.
- Provide guidance on Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs), Annual Training Reports (ATRs) and SETA grant opportunities where relevant.
- Ensure transformation recommendations are commercially viable and aligned with applicable legislative requirements.
4. Client Proposals, Agreements and Business Development
- Prepare comprehensive B-BBEE advisory and skills development proposals for prospective and existing clients.
- Develop professional quotations, scopes of work and service recommendations.
- Draft and review client service agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
- Prepare supporting contractual and commercial documentation for new and existing client engagements.
- Ensure proposals accurately reflect clients' compliance requirements, transformation objectives and budget considerations.
- Support senior management in client presentations, commercial discussions and business development initiatives.
- Assist with converting prospective client opportunities into signed engagements.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional B-BBEE and skills development services.
- Recommend suitable services and programmes based on identified compliance gaps.
- Demonstrate the commercial value and potential return on transformation expenditure.
- Maintain a professional and commercially focused approach to client engagement.
5. Client Relationship and Portfolio Management
- Manage an assigned portfolio of clients across multiple industries.
- Act as a trusted advisor on B-BBEE compliance, scorecard performance and verification requirements.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with client executives, senior management and key stakeholders.
- Conduct regular client meetings to discuss B-BBEE performance and compliance requirements.
- Present detailed scorecard findings, gap analyses and transformation recommendations.
- Communicate complex regulatory and technical information clearly and professionally.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external verification agencies to ensure successful client outcomes.
- Respond to client queries regarding B-BBEE legislation, compliance requirements and verification processes.
- Ensure client deliverables are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Maintain high standards of client service, professionalism and confidentiality.
6. Regulatory Compliance, Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the B-BBEE Act, Amended Codes of Good Practice and applicable sector-specific codes.
- Stay informed of legislative amendments and regulatory developments affecting B-BBEE compliance.
- Monitor SANAS verification standards and relevant B-BBEE Commission guidance.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Skills Development Act, Skills Development Levies Act and Employment Equity Act.
- Prepare accurate B-BBEE compliance reports, scorecard summaries and management presentations.
- Develop detailed technical reports outlining compliance risks, improvement opportunities and recommended interventions.
- Maintain complete and accurate client files, supporting calculations and verification evidence.
- Ensure documentation is organised, accessible and maintained to verification-ready standards.
- Provide technical updates and guidance to internal stakeholders and clients regarding legislative developments.
- Ensure that all assessments and recommendations are objective, accurate and professionally documented.
Minimum Qualifications
- A relevant degree or diploma in one of the following disciplines:
- Accounting
- Commerce

- Human Resources
- A related field
- A specialised qualification or certification in B-BBEE, B-BBEE verification or transformation management will be highly advantageous.
- Additional training or professional development relating to B-BBEE legislation, scorecard analysis or verification standards will be beneficial.
Minimum Experience Requirements
A minimum of five years' proven, hands-on experience in B-BBEE verification, analysis, advisory or consulting is essential.
Candidates must demonstrate:

Remuneration and Benefits
Monthly Salary: Approximately R45,000 Cost to Company, depending on qualifications, experience and suitability.
Annual Cost to Company: Approximately R540,000.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior B-BBEE Verification Analyst, B-BBEE Consultant or B-BBEE Advisory Specialist with a minimum of five years of substantial, hands-on experience in the B-BBEE industry.
They will have worked with clients across multiple sectors and possess a comprehensive understanding of the applicable B-BBEE codes, scorecard methodologies and verification requirements.
The successful candidate must be able to independently manage the technical aspects of B-BBEE assessments, calculate complete scorecards, identify compliance gaps, develop improvement strategies and prepare clients for formal verification.
In addition to technical expertise, the individual must demonstrate strong commercial awareness, excellent client engagement capabilities and proven experience preparing professional proposals, service agreements and MOUs.
This position requires a specialist with genuine B-BBEE verification, analysis or consulting expertise. Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to general HR administration, Employment Equity reporting or Skills Development coordination, without substantial B-BBEE scorecard and verification experience, will not meet the technical requirements of the role.
