Our military/DoD customer is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Manager to serve as a strategic, hands-on technology leader in a “party of one” capacity. This role will oversee and manage the organization’s Azure Government Cloud (GCC) environment while acting as the primary internal point of ownership for all IT, Azure, and AI-related initiatives.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a strong Azure Cloud expert who is comfortable operating independently and partnering closely with a managed services provider (MSP/MSO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal owner of the organization’s Microsoft Azure Government Cloud (GCC) environment
  • Provide oversight and governance of all Azure infrastructure, cloud architecture, and related systems
  • Partner with the MSP/MSO, who manages infrastructure up to the Azure server/cloud environment, and take full ownership from that point forward
  • Lead cloud strategy, optimization, and long-term technology roadmap planning
  • Ensure compliance, security, and best practices within a government-regulated cloud environment
  • Oversee all IT operations, AI initiatives, and Azure-related projects across the organization
  • Act as the senior technical advisor to leadership on infrastructure, cloud, and emerging technologies
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure service delivery alignment


Required Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure Government Cloud (GCC/GCCI)
  • Proven experience managing Azure infrastructure in regulated or government environments
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, compliance, and architecture
  • Experience working alongside MSP/MSO partners
  • Ability to operate independently in a highly autonomous role
  • Strategic mindset with strong hands-on technical capabilities
  • Experience overseeing IT operations in an outsourced model
