JANUS Research Group is seeking a Senior Aviation Military Analyst with extensive expertise in Army attack and reconnaissance aviation, Launched Effects (LE), aviation weapons, and munitions to support Army Aviation capability development, modernization, and future force initiatives. This position provides senior-level operational and technical expertise supporting capability analysis, requirements development, operational assessments, and technology integration for current and future Army Aviation systems.

The selected candidate will analyze emerging Launched Effects capabilities, aviation weapons employment, and operational concepts while supporting Army Aviation modernization efforts through technical studies, requirements development, and executive-level recommendations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior subject matter expert on Army attack and reconnaissance aviation, Launched Effects (LE), aviation weapons, and munitions.
  • Conduct operational and capability analyses supporting Army Aviation modernization and future force initiatives.
  • Analyze the tactical employment of attack, reconnaissance, and Launched Effects capabilities to identify operational gaps and recommend solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise on the employment, integration, and sustainment of Army Aviation weapons systems, launchers, munitions, and Launched Effects technologies.
  • Evaluate emerging Launched Effects technologies and recommend improvements to Army Aviation operational capabilities.
  • Develop white papers, concept papers, operational concepts, requirements documents, operational views, and technical reports supporting government objectives.
  • Lead and support aviation studies, operational assessments, operational test events, and capability development initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Joint Working Groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and other collaborative forums.
  • Support Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) activities, including capability requirements development and documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams conducting aviation studies, technology evaluations, and operational analyses.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings and recommendations to senior military and government leadership.
  • Review and edit technical products to ensure graduate-level quality prior to government delivery.
  • Independently develop high-quality analytical products requiring minimal government revisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of Army Aviation flight and combat operations experience
  • Rated Army Aviator with extensive experience in Army attack and/or reconnaissance aviation.
  • Senior Army Aviator Badge or Master Army Aviator Badge required.
  • Completion of military or civilian professional military education equivalent to one or more of the following:
    • Command and General Staff College (CGSC)
    • Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
    • Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course
    • Equivalent military or civilian staff development program
  • Demonstrated expertise analyzing the tactical operational employment of Army attack, reconnaissance, and Launched Effects capabilities.
  • Extensive technical experience in the handling, planning, integration, and employment of Army Aviation:
    • Launched Effects (LE)
    • Aviation weapons systems
    • Munitions
    • Launch platforms
    • Associated fire control and mission planning processes
  • Experience employing and integrating current Army Aviation weapons systems, including:
    • Hydra 70 Rocket System
    • AGM-114 HELLFIRE Missile System
    • Associated launchers and weapon integration systems
  • Staff experience planning attack, reconnaissance, and air assault missions, including aviation weapons planning and mission integration.
  • Prior tactical operational management experience leading organizations of 400 or more personnel
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting capability management, combat developments, force modernization, or requirements development initiatives.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, executing, and facilitating Joint Working Groups.
  • Experience leading aviation studies, operational assessments, or operational test events involving capability development and technology evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop graduate-level technical products, including:
    • White papers
    • Concept papers
    • Requirements documents
    • Operational views
    • Technical analyses
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior military and government leadership.
  • Ability to review and edit technical products to ensure high-quality deliverables requiring only minor government revisions.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP) in Army attack or reconnaissance aircraft employed by tactical Army Aviation organizations since 2010.
  • Experience as the primary author of a Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) approved Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) document.
  • Direct participation in an Army Aviation Capability-Based Assessment (CBA) supporting attack, reconnaissance, or Launched Effects capabilities.
  • Experience supporting Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Army Futures Command, or Army Aviation capability development organizations.
  • Knowledge of Army Aviation modernization initiatives, future vertical lift, autonomous systems, and Launched Effects integration.
  • Experience evaluating emerging aviation technologies, weapons systems, autonomous capabilities, and mission technologies.
