Senior Automotive Diagnostic Technician – $30–$50/hr

About Tires Too

At Tires Too, we pride ourselves on being experts in all things automotive—whether it’s solving complex electrical problems or explaining to a customer why their dashboard suddenly looks like a Christmas tree.

We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Our shop runs about 65 cars per week with a $600 average repair order, so there’s always interesting work coming through the doors. We're also an ATI-coached shop, focused on efficiency, professional growth, and building a strong team.

Now we’re looking for a Senior Diagnostic Technician who enjoys solving tough problems, working with modern vehicle technology, and mentoring the next generation of technicians.

What You’ll Do

If you enjoy solving problems others can’t figure out, you’ll fit right in.

Your day-to-day may include:

• Diagnose and repair complex vehicle electrical and mechanical issues

• Troubleshoot vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.)

• Perform advanced diagnostics using modern scan tools and equipment

• Calibrate and service ADAS systems (training provided if needed)

• Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance

• Follow OEM procedures and stay current with evolving automotive technology

• Mentor and support junior technicians on diagnostic processes

• Ensure every vehicle leaves the shop better than it arrived

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• 5+ years of automotive technician experience preferred

• Strong diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting skills

• ASE certifications preferred (Master Tech is a plus)

Technical Skills

• Electrical diagnostics and wiring schematic interpretation

• Familiarity with vehicle communication systems (CAN, LIN, etc.)

• Understanding of modern vehicle technology and systems

• ADAS experience is a plus, but we will train the right technician

Personal Traits

• Problem solver who enjoys complex diagnostics

• Efficient technician capable of strong productivity

• Team player willing to mentor others

• Positive attitude and pride in quality work

Compensation

$30 – $50 per hour

Our technicians are paid using a hybrid productivity + certification pay model

What that means:

• Pay increases with ASE certifications

• Pay increases with productivity

• You are paid for billed hours, not clocked hours

Example:
If you work 40 hours but bill 50 hours, you are paid for 50 hours

Top-tier technicians earning Master ASE + strong productivity reach the upper end of the pay range.
