About the role:

As a Senior Automation Tester in the Donor Engagement Platform (DEP) space within the Plasma-Derived Therapies (PDT) business unit, you will play a critical role in driving quality assurance initiatives and ensuring software products adhere to the highest standards and business requirements. In addition to hands-on testing responsibilities, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to QA team members, helping establish robust testing methodologies, best practices, and standard operating procedures.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including development, product, business, and infrastructure teams to design, review, and execute comprehensive testing strategies covering functional, non-functional, integration, performance, and negative test scenarios across DEP systems.

By leading the planning, execution, coordination, and reporting of testing activities, this role directly contributes to PDT’s ability to harness data effectively, improve decision-making capabilities, and maintain a competitive advantage in the market. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and modern testing methodologies to help Takeda drive innovation, scale quality engineering practices, and continuously evolve in an ever-changing business and technology landscape.

This role will also serve as a team lead, providing guidance to junior testers, driving delivery excellence, ensuring alignment across QA teams, and supporting strategic quality initiatives.

This position will align to the Testing and Validation Chapter of the ICC and initially report to the Functional Delivery Lead for strategic direction as well as day-to-day management.

How you will contribute:

  • Lead and independently own end-to-end testing activities across multiple projects and releases.
  • Mentor, guide, and support junior QA team members while ensuring adherence to quality standards, best practices, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop comprehensive test strategies, detailed test plans, and optimized test scenarios covering functional, integration, regression, performance, API, and negative testing based on business and technical requirements.
  • Design, develop, review, and maintain automation frameworks and test scripts for Web, Mobile, and API testing while driving automation initiatives to improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and release quality.
  • Execute manual and automated test cases, report defects, track them to closure, and analyze automation failures to ensure stability and reliability of test suites.
  • Perform automation code reviews and provide recommendations to improve script scalability, maintainability, reusability, and overall framework effectiveness.
  • Lead Web and Mobile automation testing activities using tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or equivalent technologies.
  • Define test success and failure criteria, establish monitoring and validation approaches, and analyze application, system, and infrastructure logs to support troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with development, product, business, and infrastructure teams to ensure quality standards are consistently met across all deliverables.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test plans, automation coverage, execution results, defect reports, and QA metrics.
  • Perform regression testing to validate that new enhancements do not adversely impact existing functionalities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes, automation frameworks, QA workflows, and adoption of emerging testing tools and AI-driven testing practices.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, quality metrics, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Coordinate effectively across multiple QA teams to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, release activities, and delivery expectations.
  • Support release planning, production validation, and post-release quality assurance activities.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 6–8 years of experience in Quality Assurance with strong expertise in manual, automation, and performance testing methodologies and practices.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring QA teams and coordinating testing activities across projects.
  • Hands-on experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium, Appium and test frameworks like TestNG, Cucumber.
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner.
  • Experience with defect management and tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques for backend and data testing.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and participation in Agile ceremonies.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong understanding of distributed load testing concepts and execution strategies.
  • Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex application issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple QA deliverables and coordinate across QA teams.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, including working with dashboards, reports, and data quality concepts.
  • Understanding AI/ML fundamentals and emerging intelligent automation/testing trends.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

Preferred requirements:

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and quality engineering practices within CI/CD ecosystems.
  • Experience with mobile automation testing tools such as Appium.
  • Experience working in regulated domains such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or finance.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Exposure to API testing and service virtualization tools is an added advantage.
  • Experience in test estimation, planning, and resource coordination for enterprise-scale projects.
