Job Description

Do you have first chair trial experience? Are you looking for a dynamic exciting team where you can learn, grow and lead? The Senior Attorney will take on a leading role in defending the Company in complex, high-exposure tort and premises liability matters, partnering with a sophisticated in-house legal team to drive litigation strategy and advocate before city, state, and federal courts, as well as in private mediations. This is a compelling opportunity for a seasoned litigator to handle challenging cases, influence legal outcomes, and make a meaningful impact on matters critical to the Companys operations and reputation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior trial attorney managing a high-volume docket of complex personal injury, tort, and premises liability matters, independently leading cases from inception through trial, resolution, and appeal as needed.
  • Manage a substantial caseload of high-exposure matters brought against the Company, balancing litigation demands, business priorities, and risk considerations with sound judgment and efficiency.
  • Lead all phases of discovery in complex, high-exposure matters, including identifying and analyzing critical documents, taking and defending depositions, conducting site inspections, and shaping the evidentiary record for trial.
  • Represent the Company in hearings, mediations, and trials involving significant complexity, exposure, and business impact, serving as a trusted advocate in high-stakes disputes.
  • Deliver sophisticated legal research, analysis, and strategic guidance on complex litigation issues, partnering with Law Department colleagues to develop positions that protect the Companys interests.
  • Draft and refine high-impact pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery demands and responses that advance litigation strategy and position matters for successful outcomes.
  • Prepare and argue substantive motions, appear at court conferences, and confidently advocate for the Company in forums where strategic judgment and courtroom presence are essential.
  • Provide strategic legal support across a broad range of issues connected to Company operations, contributing as a valued member of a high-performing in-house legal team.
  • Mentor and develop junior attorneys by providing hands-on guidance in case assessment, litigation planning, and trial strategy, helping build a high-performing team equipped to manage complex tort and premises liability matters.
  • Deliver polished, executive-ready presentations and strategic updates to senior leadership on high-exposure litigation matters, translating complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance that informs business decisions.

Required Education/Experience

  • Juris Doctorate from a recognized Law School and Tort Litigation experience required.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Must be admitted to the New York bar, required.
  • 8 years of legal personal injury experience, required.
  • 3-5 years First Chair Trial experience in NY State Courts, required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
