Job Description

Queensland Treasury Corporation is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Water and Transport team within the Strategic Financial Solutions Division. This role offers the opportunity to apply financial, commercial and analytical skills to work that supports infrastructure, service delivery and long-term outcomes for Queensland, including advice to Queensland Treasury, local governments and government-owned water, rail and port businesses.

QTC is the Queensland Government’s central financing authority. We provide financial resources, advisory services and risk management support to help government and related entities make informed decisions and improve financial sustainability.

About the role

As Senior Associate, you will support the Director, Principals and broader team to deliver practical, evidence-based advice to clients. Projects may include performance reviews, revenue and pricing analysis, funding assessments and infrastructure project reviews.

What you will do:

  • Undertake financial modelling, commercial analysis and sector research.
  • Identify key insights, risks and opportunities to inform decision-making.
  • Prepare clear written advice, reports, briefings and presentations.
  • Contribute to client meetings and help build trusted stakeholder relationships.

About you

You are commercially minded, analytical and comfortable working with complex information. You can translate data and financial analysis into practical insights and communicate clearly with different audiences and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality advice.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, business or a related discipline.
  • At least five years’ experience demonstrating strong analytical and commercial capability.
  • Experience in corporate finance, infrastructure assessment, financial viability, funding, pricing, risk or government decision-making.
  • Advanced Excel capability; Power BI, Power Query or Power Pivot experience is highly regarded.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgement, discretion, curiosity, accountability and a collaborative approach.
  • Prior experience in the water, ports or rail industries is desirable but not essential for success in the role.
