What we do:

It isa very excitingtimein the area ofGlobal Trade and Customs. Globally Governments are moving towards indirect taxation as a source of revenue, trade disputes and trade wars continue to upset supply chains all while our clients are changing the way they deliver their products and services to their customers.

What does this role offer?

On-going trade wars, the introduction of new free trade agreements, export licensing and sanctions are just some of the issues that impact upon global trade and are affecting the ability of our clients to move their products and services across international borders ina timelyandcost efficientmanner. If our clients are moving goods or providing software across an internationalborderthen our team is who they work with. We focus on ensuring that the product continues to be commercially competitive despite the everevolving globaltrade environment and increases to the customs duty rate of certain products.

In addition, you will work closely in supporting clients to ensure no legal or even criminal issues arise for their organisations through the export of ‘dual-use’ items. This is particularly relevant in the Irish economy for those ‘tech’ companies who export highly encrypted software.

As aSenior Associate,you’llwork as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsible for:

  • Work on a challenging,evolvingand varied client portfolio, with excellent opportunities to develop into the management of your own portfolio.

  • Develop yourexpertisein all areas of global trade and customs.

  • Work on challenging cross border projects.

  • Embrace the digital transformation being undertaken in our business. Being motivated to familiarise yourself with these evolutions and to drive these technologies further in our day-to-day business and that of our clients.

  • Assistin the ongoing management of client relationships, business development andparticipatein various consultancy projects.

  • Utilise the flexible working environment with efficient management of personal assignments, while reporting to a team of experienced senior managers,directorsand partners.

  • Development of your own career. With sustained levels of growth in our tax practice, you will have an excellent opportunity to progress,specialiseand travel.

  • Mentor and coach trainees, promoting autonomy to make a difference and deliver results.

  • Be part of and contribute to the fun working environment offered by PwC and act as an advocate to promote our learning culture.

Experiences and skills:

  • At least2to3years experiencein a Global Trade and Customs role.

  • Strong academic record with aDegreein accounting, economics,financeor law.

  • Business Acumen - use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the market and utilise this information toassistyour clients in making innovative business decisions.

  • Relationship management - ability to read situations andmodifybehaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.

  • Creative -demonstratean ability to contribute tonew ideasand propose innovative solutions to problems.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Enthusiastic team player with a passion to coach and encourage others to achieve their potential.

  • Ambitious –demonstratestrong commitment to personal learning and development.
