The Senior Associate, Tax supports IMCO’s global tax compliance and reporting obligations across a rapidly growing investment and entity structure. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax, the role is responsible for contributing to the accurate and timely preparation of Canadian and U.S. tax filings and coordinating with external advisors in additional jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory requirements.

Beyond core compliance responsibilities, the Senior Associate, Tax plays an active role in the continuous improvement of tax processes and workflows, participates in crossfunctional initiatives, and supports broader taxrelated projects, including elements of deal support, tax governance, and policy development. This role offers a wellrounded opportunity for an earlycareer tax professional to develop technical depth while gaining exposure beyond traditional tax compliance within a collaborative and evolving tax function.

As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For:

  • Prepare and manage assigned Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns and related information filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly GST/HST filings and reconciliations, including analysis of variances and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support IMCO’s U.S. tax compliance and reporting obligations by coordinating with external tax service providers, reviewing filings and deliverables for reasonableness, and ensuring consistency with underlying data and facts.
  • Act as a point of contact for taxrelated KYC and regulatory requests, including FATCA, CRS, W8s, and certificates of residency, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
  • Own the collection, review, and tracking of U.S. K1s and other foreign tax information slips, identifying data gaps, following up with counterparties, and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Prepare and support correspondence with tax authorities (CRA, IRS, and others), including audit and examination requests, notices, and routine inquiries.
  • Interacting with internal stakeholders to manage the tax payment and tax refund processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax processes, controls, and workflows by analyzing information flows, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing practical enhancements.
  • Stay current on changes in Canadian and international tax legislation and administrative guidance, and assess the potential impact on IMCO’s tax compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal tax reporting, including bi-annual tax updates and materials for senior finance leadership.
  • Assist with the hiring of tax interns and provide guidance and onthejob support.
  • Support ad hoc tax projects, research initiatives, and crossfunctional workstreams.

What you need to succeed:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Pursuing or obtained the CPA designation.
  • A solid knowledge of income tax law and administration, financial accounting principles and practices
  • Minimum of 3 year of tax experience or equivalent in corporate income tax*
  • Experience with indirect tax would be an asset
  • Experience with US tax would be an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistent track record of high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to tackle unfamiliar work with others in a team environment and the ability to work with light supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and solid written, verbal communication and attentive listening skills
  • A continuous learning and high adaptability mindset with a desire to expand skills and expertise in various functions within IMCO’s tax group.
  • Experience with building databases, data manipulation, and basic computer programming is an asset, but not strictly necessary.

Note: Candidates who apply with 5+ years of relevant experience will be considered for the Manager-level equivalent role for this vacancy.

The base salary range for this position is CAD $80,000.00 - $110,000.00. The placement within the range is determined by the range of market pay for the specific position, as well as the candidate's knowledge, skillset and experience relative to the requirements of the position and to internal peers. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in IMCO's annual incentive plan.
