Job Description

The System Integration Test Engineer is responsible for executing system integration testing (SIT) across applications, devices, APIs, and data systems to ensure overall product quality and reliability. This role focuses on validating end-to-end workflows, performing functional and performance testing, and leveraging modern tools, automation, AI techniques, and database validation to support high-quality releases.

A Day In The Life

Key Responsibilities

System Integration Testing

  • Execute end-to-end SIT scenarios across multiple systems, including APIs, backend services, and user interfaces
  • Validate data flow, integration points, and system interactions
  • Identify, log, and track defects, integration issues, and inconsistencies
  • Support test planning, test case creation, and test execution

Automation & Modern Testing Tools

  • Develop and execute automation scripts for regression and integration testing
  • Work with tools such as:
    • Selenium / Cypress (UI testing)
    • Postman / REST Assured (API testing)
  • Contribute to test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines

Performance & Load Testing (Basic)

  • Assist in executing load and performance tests using tools such as:
    • JMeter / k6
  • Analyze test results and identify basic performance bottlenecks

AI-Assisted Testing (Emerging Skills)

  • Use AI-powered testing tools for:
    • Test case generation
    • Defect prediction
    • Analysis of test results
  • Support implementation of intelligent automation practices

Database & Data Validation

  • Validate data integrity across systems using:
    • SQL queries
    • Data comparison techniques
  • Work with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • Verify ETL/data pipeline accuracy and consistency

Defect Management & Troubleshooting

  • Log and manage defects using tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps
  • Perform basic root cause analysis with guidance from senior engineers
  • Collaborate with development teams to resolve issues

Collaboration & Agile Participation

  • Work in Agile/Scrum teams, participating in:
    • Sprint planning
    • Daily stand-ups
    • Retrospectives
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams

What will help you thrive in this role?

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in:
    • Software testing / QA
    • System Integration Testing (preferred)

Technical Skills

Testing Tools

  • API Testing: Postman, REST Assured
  • UI Testing: Selenium, Cypress
  • Test Management: JIRA, Azure DevOps

Performance Testing (Basic)

  • JMeter, k6 (preferred)

Programming / Scripting

  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Python / Java / JavaScript

Database Skills

  • Strong SQL fundamentals
  • Experience querying and validating data

AI Tools (Preferred)

  • Exposure to AI-based testing tools or frameworks is a plus
  • Familiarity with automation optimization using AI

Other Skills

  • Understanding of SDLC and STLC processes
  • Basic knowledge of API architecture and microservices
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is a plus
