The Senior Associate, Security Borrowing & Lending (SBL) supports the execution, monitoring, and expansion of the firm’s SBL business. This role is responsible for processing SBL transactions, strengthening relationships with borrowers and lenders, and ensuring operational accuracy in trade booking, collateral monitoring, and reporting. The position plays a key role in enhancing liquidity, revenue generation, and operational compliance within the SBL unit.

Job Responsibilities

SBL Trading & Execution

  • Execute, process, and book SBL trades in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in identifying, engaging, and onboarding new SBL borrowers and lenders.
  • Support initiatives to expand the supply of lendable securities and optimize SBL inventory.

Collateral & Risk Monitoring

  • Monitor SBL collateral, including fees, interest, and margin adequacy.
  • Escalate discrepancies, settlement issues, and risk exposures in line with internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate records of SBL positions, transaction details, and collateral movements.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly SBL performance and activity reports for management review.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal policies, Bursa requirements, and regulatory standards.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders such as Retail Business, Securities Operations, and Group Finance to support smooth trade life cycles.
  • Coordinate with external parties, including Bursa Malaysia and counterparties, to resolve trade or reconciliation issues.

Process Improvement & Support

  • Contribute to workflow enhancements, automation initiatives, or system improvements within the SBL function.
  • Support audits, compliance checks, and operational reviews as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Commerce, Economics, or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of experience in securities borrowing & lending, equity trading, operations, or related capital markets functions.
  • Experience in trade booking, settlement, collateral management, or market operations is highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of SBL products, trade processing, and securities settlement flows.
  • Familiarity with Bursa Malaysia rules, SBL market practices, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and trading/operations systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to work independently under tight timelines and manage multiple priorities.
