Senior Associate, Sales Account Management

Are you a commercially driven professional with a passion for building strategic customer partnerships and delivering sustainable growth? We are looking for a Senior Associate, Sales Account Management to manage and develop key Modern Trade customers in Portugal, driving profitable growth through effective account management, strong negotiations, and collaborative business planning.

This role offers the opportunity to work with leading retail partners, influence commercial strategy, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver exceptional business results in a dynamic FMCG environment.

About the Role

We are seeking a results-driven Key Account Manager to manage and develop Modern Trade customers in Portugal within the FMCG sector. This role plays a key part in driving profitable growth through strategic partnerships with major retail chains, leading negotiations, and executing joint business plans aligned with customer and company objectives.

Responsabilities:

• Act as the primary commercial interface for assigned Modern Trade customers
• Build and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs), including volume, value, promotion, and distribution targets
• Lead annual and ad-hoc negotiations on pricing, promotions, assortments, and trade investment
• Define and manage promotional calendars, ensuring strong in-store execution
• Analyze sales performance, forecasts, and shopper data to identify growth opportunities
• Monitor and control trade spend and promotional ROI
• Collaborate closely with Customer Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Sales teams
• Track and report KPIs such as turnover, margin, distribution, shelf presence, and promotional effectiveness

Requirements:

• Degree level education or equivalent in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field
• 3–6 years of experience in Key Account Management or Commercial roles within FMCG
• Strong understanding of retail dynamics, trade marketing, and category management
• Proven negotiation and relationship management skills
• Strong analytical skills and experience using sales data to drive decisions
• Ability to drive for results with high degree of initiative and speed
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
• Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
• Strong communicator and team worker, able to build relationships at all levels and across function in an ambiguous environment
