The Senior Associate Relations Investigator serves as a neutral fact-finder responsible for conducting workplace investigations involving allegations of misconduct, policy violations, workplace concerns, and other employment-related matters. This role manages investigations from intake through resolution, ensuring a thorough, objective, timely, and defensible process that aligns with company policies, legal requirements, and enterprise governance standards.

Working in close partnership with Associate Relations Advisors, HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and business leaders, this role evaluates evidence, assesses credibility, identifies risks, and develops well-supported findings to enable consistent and informed decision-making. The role contributes valuable insights from investigation outcomes to help identify recurring concerns, emerging trends, and opportunities to strengthen the associate experience and reduce organizational risk.

Key Responsibilities

Investigations Management

  • Conduct end-to-end investigations involving allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ethics concerns, workplace violence, policy violations, and other employee relations matters.
  • Manage investigation caseloads while maintaining timeliness, quality, and consistency standards.
  • Develop investigation plans, identify relevant witnesses, gather evidence, and conduct interviews.
  • Analyze documentation, electronic records, and other evidence to determine facts and assess credibility.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports that clearly document findings, rationale, risk considerations, and recommended next steps.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted in a fair, objective, confidential, and defensible manner.

Risk Assessment & Decision Support

  • Identify potential legal, compliance, reputational, and employee relations risks.
  • Partner with Associate Relations leadership, Legal, Compliance, and HR Business Partners on complex and high-risk matters.
  • Provide objective recommendations based on investigative findings and policy application.
  • Escalate matters appropriately based on defined governance and risk frameworks.

Consultation & Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted subject matter resource regarding investigative processes and best practices.
  • Consult with leaders, HR partners, and Associate Relations Advisors on investigation intake, scope, and resolution approaches.
  • Support leaders in understanding investigation outcomes and associated risk considerations.
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships across internal stakeholder groups.

Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain accurate and complete investigation records and case documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards, record retention requirements, and governance expectations.
  • Support audits, reviews, and quality assurance activities related to investigations.
  • Adhere to established investigation methodologies and enterprise standards.

Insights & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify patterns, themes, and systemic issues emerging from investigations.
  • Provide trend analysis and recommendations to Associate Relations leadership.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance investigation effectiveness, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Support the development of investigation tools, templates, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Employee Relations, Associate Relations, HR, Compliance, Legal, or workplace investigations experience.
  • 3+ years of conducting complex workplace investigations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interviewing techniques, evidence assessment, and report writing.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and employee relations practices.
  • Experience managing sensitive and high-risk matters involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with HR case management systems and HRIS platforms preferred.
