New York Life has formed a new Client Growth and Retention business team to accelerate enterprise growth by developing and operating programs that help access new pools of customers, as well as programs that deepen customer relationships/ retention.
The Planning & Implementation Manager is responsible for translating approved strategies for key consumer segments into scalable operating models, implementation plans, and repeatable business processes that enable successful execution across the enterprise.
Working closely with the Senior Director - Market Strategy, this role serves as the operational architect of Client Growth & Retention by developing implementation roadmaps, establishing governance, codifying Standard Operating Procedures, and coordinating cross-functional activities necessary to bring key consumer segment strategies to life.
Success in this role requires balancing strategic thinking with operational excellence—transforming business objectives into executable plans while ensuring initiatives are implemented consistently, efficiently, and in alignment with New York Life's broader business priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
· Translate approved consumer segment strategies into comprehensive implementation plans and execution roadmaps.
· Develop and maintain scalable operating models that support consistent execution across multiple consumer segments.
· Design, document, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implementation playbooks.
· Coordinate implementation activities across Client Growth & Retention, Agency, Field Experience, Experience & Digital Marketing, and other enterprise partners.
· Identify implementation dependencies, resource needs, timelines, risks, and mitigation strategies.
· Ensure initiatives are operationally ready before field activation.
· Develop governance processes that promote consistency, accountability, and execution excellence.
· Continuously evaluate existing business processes and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and increased efficiency.
· Support implementation of new consumer segment initiatives while ensuring alignment with broader organizational priorities.
· Establish reporting processes that provide visibility into implementation progress, operational effectiveness, and execution readiness.
· Capture lessons learned and incorporate continuous improvements into future operating models.
· Partner closely with Prospecting Activation and Content & Enablement resources to ensure operational plans can be successfully executed.
The successful candidate is a highly organized operational leader who enjoys transforming strategic vision into practical execution. They thrive on creating structure, establishing repeatable processes, and ensuring initiatives are delivered consistently across the organization.
They naturally think in terms of systems, governance, and process improvement while maintaining a strong understanding of the business outcomes those processes are intended to support. They are proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with a mindset focused on continuous optimization rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
Success in this role is reflected by the quality of implementation plans, the consistency of operational execution, the effectiveness of standardized processes, the visibility provided through reporting and governance, and the organization's ability to successfully execute market strategies at scale.
