The opportunity

Based in the GCO Enablement - Commercial Contracting team in GDS India, the role will support EY’s dynamic business on the Open Source Software (OSS) Legal Review Process, enabling cutting-edge solutions while navigating evolving technology risks and driving innovative, technology-driven solutions across engagements. You will provide legal support to the business and become a trusted adviser of stakeholders (often at senior level, including engagement partners). You will be expected to assess and understand how firm risks can be best managed and mitigated.

Your responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Review OSS intake form to ensure completeness and accuracy of information provided. Liaise with requestors to rectify any missing or incorrect details in the OSS request or supporting documentation.
  • Review and analyse OSS licenses in accordance with EY policies and the specific use case to mitigate legal and commercial risks.
  • Support OSS-related due diligence as part of M&A transactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Information Security, Global GCO and local GCO.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of key business and legal risks, including EY’s internal risk management framework.
  • Monitor and stay updated on changes to EY policies, organizational structure, and procedures, and assess their impact on ongoing work.

  • Strong communication and English language (verbal and written) skills;
  • Confidence, maturity and high degree of awareness to be able to work effectively with a broad base of senior-level internal stakeholders;

  • High levels of personal energy and appetite for work and success.

Experience and qualifications

  • Law graduate (LL.B) with 2–3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in OSS review and software licensing.
  • Working knowledge of open source software (OSS) licenses and a strong understanding of licensing concepts, including rights, restrictions, and usage obligations.
  • Experience working on technology-driven and software development projects.
  • Ability and confidence to deliver subject matter training to peers and senior stakeholders, both in-person and virtually.
