SLC Management offers a mix of in-office and virtual work where our employees are empowered to do their best. Generally, employees are expected to work three or more days in-office each week with flexibility depending on their business, client and team needs.

This is a 18-month contract oppurtunity.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU:

We are seeking a Senior Associate, Financial Planning & Analysis to join the FP&A team supporting the Sun Life General Investment Account. The role will involve supporting quarterly processes such as the credit review cycle, IFRS 9 expected credit losses, and providing technical accounting guidance on certain transactions as they relate to the General Investment Account. The Senior Associate will leverage data and analytical tools to provide valuable insights to senior management while helping to maintain an effective control environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Supporting the quarterly credit cycle reporting process, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, summarizing executive materials, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.

  • Provide technical accounting guidance for a variety of complex transactions that pertain to the Sun Life General Investment Account.

  • Assisting with the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) process, summarizing the changes in ECL, and ensuring the accurate capture of results in the P&L and downstream reporting.

  • Performing ad-hoc investigations to answer queries from various teams and cross-departments.

  • Maintaining the control environment to ensure key controls are operating as described and supporting quarterly audit requirements.

  • Leading applicable continuous improvement projects to improve team efficiency and provide added value to internal clients.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Experience in the financial services industry with a working understanding of investments and/or insurance.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, influencing skills, and a team player mindset.

  • Demonstrate ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis leveraging available data.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight reporting deadlines on deliverables.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Experience working with large data sets and building/improving processes.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Professional finance designation (CPA, CFA, or MBA).

  • Investment accounting experience, preferably within the asset management or insurance industry.

  • IFRS knowledge/experience.

  • Working knowledge of SAP (or other ledger system), WEBI, Tableau, Aladdin etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.).

SLC Management is a regulated business, and this means that there are certain financial reporting and trading preclearance requirements for all employees. Salary Range

80,000/80 000 - 128,000/128 000
