Senior Associate
& Summary
The Senior Associate will be responsible for supporting and overseeing assigned areas within the Record to Report function, including journal review, account reconciliation, financial close activities and reporting deliverables. The successful candidate will be expected to apply strong accounting knowledge, exercise sound judgment, manage stakeholder expectations and provide guidance to junior team members, while contributing to process improvement and control enhancement initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
Manage assigned Record to Report activities, including journal processing, general ledger review, accountreconciliationsand close deliverables.
Review journal entries,reconciliationsand supporting schedules prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy,completenessand compliance with applicable policies.
Lead or support month-end, quarter-endand year-end closing activities, including monitoring timelines, resolvingissuesand escalating matters whererequired
Analysetrial balance movements, balance sheet accounts and profit and loss variances, and prepare clear explanations for management review.
Maintainaccurateaccounting records for areas such as accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany balances, bank accounts,provisionsand other assigned accounts.
Coordinate with auditors, tax agents, internal finance teams, business stakeholders and regional or global finance teams on accounting and reporting matters.
Support statutory reporting, tax computation, auditschedulesand other compliance-related deliverables.
Ensure adherence to internal controls, approval requirements, accountingstandardsand documentation standards.
Identifyrecurring issues, recommend practicalsolutionsand contribute to processstandardisation,automationand continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide guidance to junior team members throughreviewcomments, knowledge sharing and support on accounting processes and finance systems.
Support ad hoc management reporting, finance projects and transformation initiatives asrequired
Requirements:
Degree in Accounting,Financeor a related discipline; a professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in general ledger, financial accounting, audit, sharedservicesor Record to Report operations.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, month-end close processes, reconciliations, financial reportingrequirementsand internal controls.
Experience in preparing or reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, auditschedulesand management reports.
Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems; Oracle experience will be an added advantage.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Strong analytical capability, attention todetailand ability to interpret financial information effectively.
Effective stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, follow through on issues and manage expectations professionally.
Ability toprioritisemultiple deadlines, workindependentlyand collaborate effectively within a team environment.
