Job Location:

This role is 100% on-site in Washington, DC at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB).

Job Description:

Blake Willson Group (BWG) is seeking an experienced Federal Accountant to support Federal financial management, accounting, financial reporting, asset management, and contract accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Federal accounting requirements, FACTS (PeopleSoft) financial systems, USSGL, and Federal financial reporting, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and support multiple accounting functions. In this position, you will also:

  • Support General Ledger (GL) Management activities, including the review and analysis of GLKK reconciliations, Tie Point outages, reconciling items, and root causes of system outages.
  • Support the analysis and resolution of FACTS system configuration and transaction posting issues in coordination with Government personnel.
  • Support the preparation and compilation of Federal financial statements and Annual Financial Reports (AFRs), including budgetary financial statements such as the Statement of Budgetary Resources.
  • Support Asset Management activities involving Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E), Internal Use Software (IUS), lease accounting, depreciation and amortization, Construction in Progress (CIP), and asset-related reconciliations.
  • Support CLIN reconciliation and contract accounting activities, including obligation and expenditure analysis, contract-related accounting data, and unliquidated obligations.
  • Reconcile financial information between contract and financial management systems and investigate discrepancies.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret large and complex financial datasets using Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables.
  • Apply Federal accounting standards and guidance to support accurate financial reporting and accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with Government and Contractor personnel to identify issues, perform reconciliations, and support timely resolution of accounting and financial reporting requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Federal accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting FACTS (PeopleSoft) Federal financial programs, including FACTS General Ledger (GL) and Asset Management (AM).
  • 2+ years of experience preparing and reporting Federal financial statements, including budgetary financial statements such as the Statement of Budgetary Resources.

Desired Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL), OMB Circular A-136 reporting requirements, and the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM).
  • Experience with Federal General Ledger, Asset Management, or contract accounting activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and other data analysis capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is desired.
  • Experience supporting Federal financial statement audits and audit readiness activities.
  • Experience supporting the Department of War (DoW) or Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Experience with complex Federal financial management systems and accounting data reconciliation.

Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
