Job Description

Job Purpose :

To support the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of Aldar’s Environmental Management System (EMS) across all construction and development projects, ensuring compliance with UAE environmental legislation, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) requirements, Estidama, and ISO 14001 standards while promoting environmental best practices and sustainability objectives.

Key Accountabilities

· Implement and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS), including environmental policies, procedures, objectives, and targets.

· Ensure compliance with UAE environmental laws, EAD requirements, Estidama, and ISO 14001 standards across projects.

· Monitor PMCs, consultants, and contractors for compliance with EIAs, CEMPs, environmental permits, policies, and targets.

· Coordinate and follow up on obtaining environmental permits and NOCs from project initiation through handover.

· Conduct regular site inspections and internal/external environmental audits, including second-party audits.

· Ensure environmental monitoring (air, water, terrestrial), SDS compliance, and chemical content limits are in line with UAE legislation.

· Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, emergency response, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.

· Enhance environmental awareness and culture through initiatives, campaigns, and alerts.

· Ensure Estidama requirements are aligned and integrated with the EMS.

· Liaise with authorities, including Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), on environmental compliance matters.

· Support environmental investigations and report incidents or non-compliances as required.

· Collect environmental data and prepare monthly environmental performance reports and dashboards.

· Maintain environmental records and documentation on the Aldar QHSE platform.

· Participate in contractor and service provider prequalification and provide technical environmental advice.

· Contribute to environmental CSR initiatives where applicable.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Environmental compliance performance across projects

· Number of environmental breaches (repeat vs. non-repeat)

· Timeliness of contractor approvals and EAD compliance

· HSE environmental spend vs. approved budget

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Engineering, or related discipline

· Environmental Diploma (preferred)

· ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification

Experience

· Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Environmental Engineering

· Experience with large developers, construction firms, PMCs, consultants, contractors, or government entities

· UAE / GCC experience preferred

Skills & Competencies

· Strong knowledge of UAE and GCC environmental regulations

· Contractor environmental assessment and compliance monitoring

· Audit, inspection, and reporting expertise

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Strong communication skills in English and Arabic
