As a Data Engineer within the Reporting function, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high‑quality reporting and data solutions using the Azure BI stack. You will work with Azure SQL, Data Factory, SSRS, Power BI, and T‑SQL to build accurate, reliable, and high‑performing reports, dashboards, datasets, and data pipelines.You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, BI engineers, and developers to translate reporting requirements into robust technical solutions. You will also play a key role in ensuring data quality, optimising performance, and contributing to the evolution of reporting standards and best practices across the team. This role is ideal for someone experienced in Azure‑based data solutions who enjoys problem solving, continuous learning, and building meaningful, data-driven output for the business

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Reporting Development • Develop and maintain SSRS reports to support internal and customer MI/BI needs.
• Deliver and enhance performance dashboards for operational teams and external clients.
• Build complex T‑SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models.
• Develop datasets, semantic models, and data structures for Power BI reporting.
• Ensure data accuracy through rigorous testing, debugging, and validation.
• Create and maintain report models using SQL Server, Power BI, and other reporting tools
Data Pipelines & Azure BI Stack • Develop data pipelines and workflows using Azure Data Factory.
• Build and optimise Azure SQL database structures for performance and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated delivery of reporting assets.
• Ensure adherence to data engineering and software development standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Support • Work closely with business users to clarify requirements and support data interpretation.
• Collaborate with developers, BI engineers, and analysts to deliver shared reporting outcomes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues, ensuring timely delivery of accurate data.
• Liaise with third‑party vendors as required throughout the development lifecycle. Continuous Improvement, Mentoring & Best Practice • Contribute to improving reporting patterns, development standards, and team processes.
• Support colleagues through guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
• Champion modern, automated, test‑driven approaches within the reporting function.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Expertise in the Azure BI stack — Azure SQL, Data Factory, Data Modelling.
  • Strong experience in SSRS and Power BI development.
  • Advanced SQL Server and T‑SQL skills.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge of building datasets, dashboards, and analytical models.
  • Understanding of database structures and Data Warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data/reporting deployment
