Senior Associate, Credit Analyst

Westpac’s Institutional Banking division is seeking a Senior Associate, Credit Analyst to join its Asia business, based in Singapore. This is a key credit role supporting priority client relationships across the region and offers meaningful exposure to complex, multi-product transactions and senior stakeholders.

Reporting to the Head of Relationship Coverage, Asia, the role is responsible for end‑to‑end credit coverage of a defined client portfolio. You will act as a trusted credit partner to relationship managers and product teams, with clear accountability for credit judgement, risk identification, deal structuring input and ongoing portfolio monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead credit coverage for a defined portfolio of corporate clients across multiple sectors, with accountability for credit assessment, structuring considerations and risk recommendations for new and existing relationships.
  • Prepare high-quality credit submissions, including financial analysis, industry and sector assessment, downside and stress scenarios, and clear articulation of key credit risks and mitigants.
  • Provide independent credit judgement and effective challenge to relationship managers and product partners, balancing commercial objectives with prudent risk outcomes.
  • Actively monitor portfolio exposures, identifying emerging risks, covenant performance and early warning indicators, and escalating issues in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Contribute to transaction structuring, including facility terms, covenants and security, to ensure appropriate risk-adjusted outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across coverage, product, credit risk and other control functions to support efficient deal execution.
  • Participate in broader credit and business initiatives, including portfolio reviews, sector work and continuous improvement of credit practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in credit analysis and risk assessment within corporate or institutional banking, including the ability to form and articulate clear credit views under ambiguity.
  • Strong financial analysis and cash flow modelling capability, with experience assessing complex capital structures and lending arrangements.
  • Well‑developed written communication skills, particularly in the preparation of concise, high-quality credit papers for internal approval forums.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the ability to challenge constructively while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • A proactive, self-directed approach, with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Why Join Us

  • A core credit role supporting material client relationships within Westpac’s Asia franchise.
  • Exposure to complex, cross‑border transactions across multiple products and sectors.
  • Close interaction with senior relationship, product and risk stakeholders locally and globally.
  • Clear opportunity to build depth in credit judgement, portfolio ownership and structuring capability, supporting career progression opportunities over time.

If you are seeking a role where credit judgement, commercial awareness and professional development genuinely matter, we would welcome your application.
