Job Description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our highly regarded Catastrophic Injury Team in Manchester.

You will manage a varied caseload of high-value and complex catastrophic injury claims while working closely with Partners and clients on strategically important matters. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of cases, develop strong client relationships, and play an active role in mentoring junior colleagues and supporting the growth of the team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to further develop their expertise within a collaborative and ambitious team that is recognised for handling some of the most significant injury claims in the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of complex catastrophic injury and large loss claims.
  • Act on behalf of insurers, self-insured organisations and corporate clients.
  • Conduct liability investigations and develop case strategies.
  • Review and analyse medical, engineering and expert evidence.
  • Draft pleadings, witness statements and other litigation documents.
  • Instruct and liaise with counsel, experts and other third parties.
  • Attend case management conferences, mediations, settlement meetings and trials where required.
  • Handle claims involving severe and life-changing injuries, including brain injuries, spinal injuries, amputations and fatal accidents.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver exceptional client service.
  • Support client training initiatives, business development activities and networking opportunities.
  • Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and support their professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with client service level agreements, regulatory requirements and internal procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in defendant personal injury litigation.
  • Strong experience handling complex, high-value catastrophic injury and large loss claims.
  • Excellent knowledge of liability, indemnity and quantum principles.
  • Experience of managing cases involving serious injury litigation through to conclusion.
  • Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercially aware with a client-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members would be advantageous.
