Senior Associate – Business Intelligence Analyst

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate to join the Institutional Intelligence team within New York Life Investment Management’s Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Group. This role will support our Private Fixed Income team within New York Life Investment Management and play a pivotal part in enhancing the tools, reporting, and workflows that support the evaluation and monitoring of a portfolio of privately placed, investment-grade securities, including corporate, infrastructure, and private ABS transactions.

This position offers a dynamic opportunity to expand a business and technology professional's expertise within the investment management industry, working in a results-oriented environment while cultivating meaningful relationships across investment, operations, and technology teams.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Associate supporting our Private Fixed Income investment teams, your primary focus will be to lead our partnership with investment professionals and technology stakeholders to enhance the platforms, reporting capabilities, and business processes supporting investment activities. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Investment Process Support & Business Analysis

  • Partner with investment professionals to support origination, underwriting, and portfolio management workflows across private investment-grade transactions.
  • Gather business requirements and translate investment team needs into scalable reporting, dashboards, and technology solutions.
  • Assist in developing tools, templates, and analyses that support underwriting, credit monitoring, portfolio surveillance, and investment committee materials.

Platform Management & Reporting

  • Own and maintain the deal/portfolio management platforms used to track investments pipeline and portfolio activity across PFI and ABF.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and workflows that support credit monitoring, deal tracking, and investment committee materials, reducing manual data gathering for portfolio managers and analysts.
  • Support the rollout and adoption of AI-enabled tools for credit memo drafting, covenant monitoring, and portfolio reporting.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Investments team and Operations/IT on platform enhancements, data integration, and systems issues affecting investment workflows.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by empowering our investment professionals with the technology platforms, reporting capabilities, and streamlined processes needed to enhance investment decision-making and operational effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst, technology, platform management, or business process improvement role within the financial services or investment management industry.
  • Strong business analysis and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience gathering requirements, evaluating business processes, and translating stakeholder needs into effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience supporting business-critical systems and analytical platforms, preferably within an investment management environment.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python and Excel, with the ability to analyze datasets, support reporting requirements, and collaborate with technical teams on data-related initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with investment professionals, Operations, IT, and stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and personal responsibility, capable of independently identifying challenges and driving solutions.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with investment management platforms (RiskSpan, dv01) supporting private fixed income, private credit, asset-backed finance, or portfolio management.
  • Experience developing or maintaining dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Experience working with Snowflake
  • Python skills for reporting automation, data manipulation, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience supporting API integrations, data migrations, and system implementation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and their application to investment workflows, credit monitoring, and reporting automation.
