Roles & responsibilities
Responsible for service delivery and ensuring the quality and timely delivery of Independence requests undertaken by self and by team members; Serve as a performance manager for a group (3-7) professionals.
Ability to apply an understanding of the applicable independence rules and regulations, and provide basic guidance requiring application of judgment to junior staff
Research and collate required organizational information from various external and internal tools Analyze the client corporate structure, its affiliates, service line and people of the firm to be Independent from the Audit client with regards to different regulatory authority
Understand the independence aspects related to acceptance of new audit clients and conflict checks
Understand the rules and standards related to affiliate evaluation and family tree maintenance
Use tools and techniques to perform Independence related checks on mergers and acquisition of various audit and non-audit clients.
Ensure the work is performed with high quality and completed within agreed turnaround time
Escalate immediately, any issues identified to the GDC Managers and Onshore teams so that the quality and turnaround time are not impacted
Provide clarifications, train and mentor junior associates on a timely basis on Independence related matters and concepts
Perform upfront reviews wherever required for deliverables and as advised by the managers.
Actively get involved on business and Independence specific knowledge development initiatives at GDC
Escalate all unaddressed issues identified on a timely basis to the GDC managers and Onshore teams, as well as seek possible resolution from them
Understand and capture comments during quality review and from onshore teams to provide feedback to junior associates
Be a performance manager to guide and coach GDC professionals on career advancement and provide continuous feedback throughout the performance year on their development areas

Mandatory technical & functional skills
Advanced knowledge of Independence rules and regulations and understanding the various Scope of Services
IT literacy with sound knowledge and experience of Excel/ Word/ PowerPoint
This role is for you if you have the below
Educational qualifications
Post-Graduation from an accredited college or university (MBA/M. Com)
Work experience
6 to 8 years of risk management/independence and/or financial statement auditing experience preferred
Significant experience in New audit client clearances in a must.
