Job Description

The School of Social Sciences (SSS) is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing & Communications Senior Assistant Manager/Assistant Manager to lead the marketing and outreach efforts for its graduate coursework and research programmes, as well as undergraduate summer school and other special programmes.

This is a new role, created to address a strategic priority: diversifying the geographic composition of our student intake. It entails specifically targeting prospective students from India, ASEAN nations, and Singapore for graduate programmes, and additionally other countries such as China and European countries for the special programmes while also increasing overall enrolment across these programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of a comprehensive marketing and outreach strategy, working closely with programme faculty, administrative staff, and student ambassadors.

This is an initial two-year contract position, with a possible extension of one year. Continuation beyond the contract period will be assessed based on demonstrated progress in student intake diversification and enrolment growth.

Job Responsibilities:

Student Ambassador Programme

  • Identify and recruit suitable graduate coursework students from the three coursework programmes as well as PhD programme to serve as student ambassadors, with a focus on representation from key target markets (India, ASEAN, Singapore). The same applies to the special programmes.

  • Design and deliver an orientation and training programme for ambassadors, covering content creation, brand guidelines, and appropriate conduct in representing the school.

  • Monitor and provide ongoing guidance on ambassadors' social media posts, ensuring content is accurate, on-brand, and published consistently on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

  • Be present during content filming sessions to provide direction, ensure quality, and maintain alignment with the school's communication goals.

Social Media & Digital Content

  • Create, schedule, and publish regular content across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, tailored to appeal to prospective graduate students in target markets.

  • Develop and manage a dedicated YouTube channel for SSS graduate programmes, producing content that gives prospective students an authentic view of programme life, faculty expertise, and career outcomes.

  • Maintain a consistent content calendar, ensuring regular posting and active engagement across all platforms.

  • Monitor platform analytics and engagement metrics, using data to refine content strategy and improve reach.

  • Conduct background research on school facilities, programme structures, student life, and career outcomes to inform accurate and compelling content for prospective students.

  • Work with School Lead to manage paid online ads and monitor reach and engagement.

Web Content Management - Postgraduate Education

  • Work with programme managers to manage and maintain web content for four postgraduate programmes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional branding.

  • Create, update, and structure programme webpages to clearly communicate programme details, admissions information, student experience, and career outcomes.

  • Coordinate content updates with academic and administrative stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information.

  • Align website content with recruitment cycles, marketing campaigns, social media activity, and digital collaterals.

  • Monitor web performance and user engagement to inform content improvements and optimise prospective student journeys.

  • Ensure content governance, usability, and accessibility standards are met across all programme pages.

Graduate Student, Faculty and Staff Engagement, Communications and Events

  • Act as a communication bridge between graduate coursework students, faculty members, and administrative support staff, ensuring information flows clearly and promptly.

  • Assist in developing materials and communications that support the overall student experience for graduate coursework and research students. Develop collaterals to promote graduate coursework and research programmes (e.g. brochures, e-posters, giveaway items at admissions fairs).

  • Work closely with the AC of Graduate Studies, Senior Asst Director and School-level lead on all graduate communications and outreach activities, including coordinating postgraduate fairs, organising faculty webinars and providing regular updates on activities and progress.

Alumni Relations

  • Work with alumni lead in managing alumni relations for both graduate coursework and research students as well as summer school students, including maintaining alumni contact records and coordinating alumni engagement activities.

  • Develop and curate alumni stories and testimonials for use in marketing materials, social media, and prospective student communications.

  • Support the building of an active alumni network that can contribute to programme outreach and student ambassadorship.

University Partnerships & Institutional Outreach

  • Research and identify suitable universities in key regions such as India, ASEAN nations, and other relevant locations as potential institutional partners for SSS graduate programmes.

  • Initiate and manage early-stage communications with partner institutions, and connect relevant SSS faculty with their counterparts at partner universities to explore formal collaboration opportunities.

  • Support the development of articulation, joint MA and PhD and 4+1 programme pathways with partner institutions, working alongside faculty and programme administrators to progress these relationships.

Summer School & Other Special Programmes

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns and outreach initiatives to increase awareness and promotion of special programmes for prospective universities.

  • Expand the portfolio of partner universities and strengthen the recruitment network to support student enrolment.

  • Build and manage relationships with partner universities to drive the development of new business opportunities.

  • Lead student engagement initiatives and activities.

  • Work closely with the AC Academic and Senior Asst Director on all special programme communications and outreach matters, providing regular updates on activity and progress.

Job Requirements:

  • A good Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field from a recognised university.

  • Experience in higher education marketing, student recruitment, or a related field.

  • Experience managing or appearing in video content production.

  • Familiarity with CRM tools, email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp), or marketing analytics dashboards.

  • Familiarity with Sitefinity CMS (or similar enterprise content management systems) is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of or experience engaging with the Indian or ASEAN higher education landscape and student decision-making behaviour.

  • Experience building or engaging with networks in relevant student or professional communities in target markets.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential; additional proficiency in a regional language (Hindi, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Thai, or Tagalog) is considered an added advantage to engage prospective students, partners, and stakeholders in target markets where these languages are predominantly used.

  • Demonstrable social media skills across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube — including content creation, community management, and basic analytics.

  • Willingness to travel for education fairs and outreach events, including occasional overseas travel within the region.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple workstreams, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • A collaborative working style and comfort engaging with faculty, students, and external partners.
