He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Engineering, Assets and Technical Advisory department has an opportunity for a Senior Asset Management Business Analyst to join the Asset Management Support team.

This role will work across asset-owning departments and technical teams to understand business needs and support improvements to asset management processes, information, systems and controls. You will bring structure to complex problems, develop clear and practical documentation, and help ensure agreed changes are fit for purpose and successfully transitioned into operational use.

You could expect to work on:

• Lead the analysis and design of asset management processes, including roles, responsibilities, business rules, controls and information flows.
• Work with stakeholders to define business problems, understand business needs and document clear, prioritised and testable requirements.
• Produce high-quality process maps, requirements, options assessments, decision records, procedures, acceptance criteria and supporting guidance.
• Facilitate workshops and discussions across asset owners, operational teams, technical specialists and delivery partners to resolve differing needs and establish agreement.
• Support solution evaluation, business acceptance testing, implementation readiness and the transition of improvements into business-as-usual operation.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You are an experienced business analyst who can bring clarity and structure to complex or poorly defined problems. You combine strong process analysis and documentation skills with the confidence and judgement needed to work across multiple business areas, challenge assumptions constructively and manage differing stakeholder needs.

You will be methodical and detail-focused while understanding the wider business outcome. You will be comfortable working in a complex organisation and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

• A minimum of seven years’ relevant experience in business analysis, process improvement, information management or organisational change, including experience leading analysis for complex business, information or system improvements.
• Demonstrated experience analysing and improving business processes, including roles, responsibilities, business rules, controls and information flows.
• Strong requirements and documentation skills, with experience defining business needs and producing clear requirements, process maps, decision records, procedures and acceptance criteria.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, including experience leading workshops, managing differing perspectives, resolving ambiguity and establishing agreement.
• Strong analytical and data literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to use evidence to support findings and recommendations.

A bachelor’s degree in business analysis, business management, information management, asset management, engineering, commerce or a related discipline, or practical experience to an equivalent level, is required.

Experience in asset management, infrastructure, property, facilities, transportation, utilities or another asset-intensive environment would be an advantage.

This role has a remuneration range of $102,595 - $120,700 per annum.
Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
