With that in mind we are looking for a Senior Asset Engineer to join our Water Infra Tactical Asset Planning team and champion best-in-class Asset Management principles. We are looking for someone to come into role to analyse potential issues, develop a clear understanding of them, and identify effective solutions that will ensure we are fit for the future. This is a technical role focused on driving an asset management plan through a risk management approach. You'll leverage your expertise in project sponsorship, data analysis, and creative problem-solving to translate risks into actionable solutions working with the relevant Operational Teams.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Own and apply a structured risk management approach to assess safety, compliance, performance, and resilience risks across the portfolio, ensuring risks are understood and prioritised
  • Analyse inspection findings, surveillance data, asset performance trends, and failure modes to identify emerging issues, root causes, and systemic weaknesses within the asset base
  • Develop proportionate, evidence‑led mitigation strategies, ranging from operational controls to capital solutions, and promote these through robust business cases.
  • Actively participate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to share best practices, identify emerging solutions, and continuously improve asset management strategies.
  • Provide coaching to assistant asset and asset engineers within the Tactical Asset Planning team, demonstrating a strong understanding of data-driven asset management practices and solution development processes

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Requires extensive water industry experience, with a deep understanding of asset systems, operational risks, and effective asset management and investment strategies.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in collecting, analysing, and interpreting complex data.
  • Be a creative and results-oriented problem solver with a passion for creating, developing and forward-thinking engineering solutions to complex challenges.
  • Possess a good understanding of cost benefit analysis and project management lifecycles. This allows you to build compelling business cases for proposed solutions.
  • Presenting complex technical information to various audiences and building productive collaboration within teams.
